Jaycee's POV:
"Gather Stuart and the others girls too!" Jeff orders making Stuart stutter in protest.
"Alpha?" A pleading look in her eyes as Jeff smirks at him. Stuart's wide eyes look my way, the same panicked expression on his face that Layla has.
"I'm not stupid boy. No prisoners would know about the secret knock being a unlocking spell. Only you and two other guards could have opened Renalda's door. Combine that with Rachel's sudden emotional state, and it's not too hard to see your involvement."
As the guards drag the three of us out of the underground cell, we walk past the hall leading to the kitchen. It was then I notice the opened back door and the odd colourful shimmer emanating from within it, that I gasped.
The guards shrugged it off thinking it was from their claws that were embedded deep within my flesh as they dragged me along. Layla however knew better eyeing me suspiciously. I sent her a quick twitch of my lip as they headed towards a door I had never stepped through before.
A guard stood watch as he entered a code I could not see.
As the mechanism clicked open a large stairs greeted us.We walked up the stairs, or rather Stuart ad Layla did. I however let my body become limp allowing the guards to angrily drag me. I didn't care that they grunted angrily and squeezed my arm tighter, or that my blood was dripping down their arms and falling onto the steps making them slip. I was used to pain and this was nothing more than an irritation compared to what I have endured in the prison. If anything I was amused listening as they heaved carrying my dead weight up four flights of stairs.
One guard almost punched me in the stomach before the other guard caught his hand. "She might be pregnant, let's not end up as a prisoner ourselves." He shuddered clicking sparkling silver chains around my wrists, that were in a small chain connected to the large grey stone wall. To my surprise they looked new.
I took in my surroundings as they did the same to Stuart and Layla, who both hissed out in pain as the silver began to burn their skin. It was one large room with chains every meter apart. They secured us on every second one to ensure we had no contact with one another. At least we weren't attached to the wall and could still move to sit on the floor somewhat comfortably.
As the guards locked the door and left, Stuart let out a sigh. "Guess we weren't as carful as we thought. I'm officially one of you now. I'm sorry."
"I'm not." I say giving Stuart a small smile. Layla and Stuart both raised a brow at the same time. The identical bewildered look on their faces making me laugh.
"How come you didn't hiss when they injected you with wolfsbane, or put the silver chains on you?" Stuart asks curiously.I look down noticing the burning blistered skin around my wrists. I shrug. "You've done worse to me over the years." I say not wanting to say I have almost an immunity to wolfsbane, or discuss my healing abilities. I also don't make a big deal about my high pain tolerance caused by the extreme punishments over the years.
Ignoring the guilt in his eyes I continue. "All I need to do is remind myself of the really bad times and it pales in comparison. Trust me, being whipped with silver claws and being made to work with it dirty and infected, all while suffering heavy blood loss is exceptionally more painful and traumatising than a skin burn on such a small patch of skin."Layla had tears in her eyes that she tried to blink away as Stuart looked down in regret and shame. I wasn't going to tell him it was okay, because what he and the others did to me wasn't okay, but he has changed his ways and I am willing to forgive. What I won't do is forget and act like it didn't happen. He can live with his guilt and let it shape him into a better person. He needs to be reminded of his wrong doings in order to improve and grow into a better man.
