Viren's POV:

"Don't forget to lock the doors!" I say as our mate closes the door behind her flicking the lock.

I sigh realising she heard me. One of the perks of Coal and I sharing this room, was the side access door that was hidden next to the shower. We always made sure to lock both doors when using the one bathroom. The downside being that we shared the bathroom.

it hadn't been a problem however knowing my mate would be now spending some time in my room, I could see it becoming tricky.

"Don't shut mate out." My beast says to me, he disapproved with my reactions earlier. I hadn't meant to shut her out of out and avoid her gaze, however I also didn't want her feeling sorry for me or feeling like she needed to help me with my hunger problem.

"I want mate." He says again when I hadn't responded.

"I know but I don't want her to feel like she has to feed us. The truth is, the blood bags should be fine, you're just being fussy." I say annoyed at my beast. "You went from just wanting any blood to now refusing every one I offer you."

My beats growls out annoyed at my words. "Mates blood pure, tastes good, and builds connection with wolf."

My eyebrows shoot up in surprise. "What do you mean builds connection?" I ask, not having heard it before. A banging sound distracts me from my inner monologue and I found the noise coming from my walk in robe. The same one that had strangely been opened when we arrived earlier.

I frowned knowing the bathroom was soundproof so knew it wasn't coming from my mate.

A few seconds later it happened again however this time it sounded like a nock. I walk over to the doors sliding them open while taking a defensive stance. What I didn't expect was the speed at which a solid object hit me in the head. Falling backwards I was shocked to see the same magical book that was in Jaycee's hospital room, now resting in my lap.

I frown staring at it but not wanting to touch it after last time. It appeared to shake itself from its daze and began levitating before me. As the withered old pages flick open, they landed on a page I hadn't read before.

"Blood and Mates." My beast begins to read for me. "When wolves mate and mark one another, most people think it's the teeth that create the mark and connection between two mates. Although it has a lot to do with the actual mark, it is the accepting of blood that forms the unbreakable connection, especially when both mates partake in it willingly. The same thing occurred for other species such as Vampires.

When a vampire drinks blood from their mate, it won't leave a mark however will begin to strength the connection between mates. Some say it allows them to feel the emotions of the other so to our being mated."

"That makes a lot of sense now. I was wondering how we were able to feel Jaycees emotions before she felt ours. It must have something to do with us already having some of her blood in our system." I say before my beast continues to read.

"It is also said that once a vampire drinks from his mate, the need to claim them and drink again will feel overpowering and become harder to resist over time. It is the bonds way of wanting the bond solidified. If a vampire is mates with a human they may also begin to reject blood from others, as a mates blood is incomparable."

The book drops onto the ground, startled as I shoot upright. A strong panic and embarrassment fills me before I realise it must be coming from my mate. Not thinking twice, I kick the door open only to see my mate using her powers to attack someone.

The water was spraying from all angles making it impossible to see who the imposter is.

I growl out enraged by the intruder. Without wasting time I take a protective stance in front of my mate, noticing a second figure doing the same. Only once the water dies down do I see Coals familiar features come into view, the both of our shoulders sagging in relief realising there was no danger.
