Jaycee's POV

Ringing filled my ears and I felt as though I was drifting in and out of conciousness. My body was cold... so cold that I could feel it shaking even without me having any control over it.

"Are you sure her memories have been wiped? And why is she still so cold?" A man asked, the sound of his voice firm yet dangerous. I knew not to trust him even though I had no idea who he was.

"Yes sir.." A female voice whispered. "Like Them all, she won't even remember her name. As for why she is shivering, she must have lost a lot of blood during the attack or maybe during the journey here."

"I told you, apart from a few cuts she hadn't sustained anything life threatening and apparently she can heal. Her condition doesn't make sense to me. As for her memories, this is good news. All I have to do is convince her to gift her powers to me before I end her." The evil intent in his voice would have sent shivers down my spine if I wasn't already shivering profusely. I wanted to scoff. This man had no idea I could hear every word he said. There was no way I would believe a work he said.

"Sorry Jaycee, just a little more." I heard a familiar whisper but it came from the back of my mind making me wonder if I was going crazy.
"There that should do it." I hear again.

I groan internally. "Why can't I open my eyes?"
I wasn't expecting a reply but I received one from that same voice.

"You're just drained of healing magic. I used the last of it to keep my memories intact. Yours will come soon, of that I am sure, but until then I'm going to need you to trust me."
...

"Sir, she has stopped shivering, this is a good sign."

I groan out, this time out loud before my eyes flutter open. The man in my line of sight was smiling kindly, thought the emotions in his eyes held nervousness and excitement.

"Do you remember your name?" The man asks and I frown.

"Tell him you don't remember even if you begin to remember." The voice in my head says. "I'm Frost by the way."

"I.. ah don't remeber."

"It's okay, you've been through a lot. Your name is Blue."

As he said the word Blue, flashes and memories assault me causing me to wince. I could feel an instant migraine combing on. There were flashes of bars and leaking pipes, as well as woman being beaten. I saw blood running down my arms and legs making me physically recoil.
"Are you okay?" The woman asks seeing my odd reaction.

"Play their game.." Frost says so I nod.

"Yes just a headache. What am I doing here?"

"Well you were about to gift your powers to me when we were attacked by the enemy. I'm afraid you hit your head and have temporarily lost them."

Lies. I could read the lies in his eyes. Is this the skill he wants from me? "What powers do I have?" I ask innocently.
Annoyance shines in his eyes before he answers. This man isn't used to being questioned and the fear I saw in the woman's eyes told me she knew it too.

"You have the power of healing, Blue. It is a painful gift that comes with a very painful side effect. They say.. I mean you have said that it causes you physical pain to heal another. Only those powerful enough to control it should use it. I will be helping you surrender them tonight."

The woman's eyes don't widen however I catch the surprise then pity in them. It seems they have no idea of my ability to read their emotions. "Let's keep it that way." Frost says.

"Oh.. okay." I reply trying to maintain the illusion that I believe this man. "Ah.. I don't remember your name I'm afraid." I say honestly.

"Oh of course, where are my manners? You may call me Uncle Margo. I raised you when your parents passed away. I'm a wizard and with it comes some perks like delaying aging. I am also the leader around here. We have our own family of sorts."
My eyebrows shoot up but I don't say anything. "Come let's get you something to eat before the ceremony, you must be starving."
