Viren's POV:

Jaycee struggled to wake, and by the way she clutched my hand, I knew that if I let her hand go to wake up first, she may not have followed. Speaking of, I made sure to fall asleep with my gloves on so she wouldn't feel our mate bond, however somehow they came off.

"We need to keep our other identity a secret for now. Maybe we can make her fall in love with us?" I beast offered. After what seemed like an hour, Jaycee finally let go allowing us to awaken also.

As my vision cleared, I reached for my gloves quickly putting them on. When I looked up, I was greeted with Layla holding a jug of ice water. Just as my heart rate soared realising the trajectory it was headed in, Jaycee gasped and threw her best friend into the wall. Although I was grateful, it didn't look intentional, and appeared to have been her gifted magic's doing. As the ice and jug clattered to the ground I noticed a second empty jug.

"Jaycee's shivering." My beast commented hearing the sound of her teeth chattering.
My beautiful mate was drenched in ice water. Anger was the first emotion to make itself known but it was my beast who spoke reason.

"Water, of course! Layla used the water to awaken Jaycee from her sleep! She would have only been trying to help us both."

"Even so, ice water? Our mate is going to get sick!" I growled internally.

"Uh! Layla?" Jaycee stuttered. "Are you.. okay?"

"Peachy."

"She will be fine." I say more worried about my mate. Her light blue orbs connected with mine and all it relive my thoughts washed away. "Here take this, it's you I'm worried about, your covered in icy water." I say before taking off my jacket and draping it over Jaycees shoulders.  At first she stiffened before relaxing into the warmth it provided.

"Always shirtless and soo considerate." Layla mumbled pushing herself off the floor. A blush dusted Jaycees cheeks at Laylas comment, and I couldn't help the grin that formed on my face, though my mates attention was sadly no longer on me.

"Let's ask Layla to leave now. We deserve some alone time with Jaycee." My beast states ready to speak.

"Thank you Salvator.. for everything, but I need to please ask you to leave."
I stood there frozen and confused. I know Jaycee well enough now to realise something was wrong, but to her I was only Salvator.
Someone who rescued her one time, only to abandoned her when she needed me most. She doesn't know what I have been doing all this time so it is unfair to expect more of her right now.

"We must take it slow." I remind my beast who only grunts in return.

"Of course. Coal and I are staying in guest rooms one and two. Please let me know if you need anything at all."

Jaycee nods but her glassy eyes don't move from Layla's. I take that as my cue to leave and ensure to shut the door behind me.

Walking towards the exit I spot Ariel. "Please wait ten minutes and then let Luna Alexa and Alpha Zander know thier daughter is awake. She is currently with Layla and wishes not to be disturbed."
"Of course Salvator, or should I call you-"

"Salvator is fine." I say trying my best to hold in my irritation. "How many people know?" I ask needing to mentally prepare myself.

"Oh it's not common knowledge you can rest assured. Alpha Zander only filled me in because he wanted to know if Jaycee would be healthy enough to handle the stress. He used an Alpha command on me and Ella, his own sister. He knows how close the two girls are and didn't want to ask Layla to keep such a thing from Jaycee, knowing she would see through it anyway."
