Y/N POV

I was definitely being too rough on myself. It was the middle of the night and everyone had gone to bed. I had done the same earlier but I just couldn't find that slumber I needed. If I wanted it now, it wouldn't be for a while I had already drank three cups of coffee all while my eyes were glued on my dimly lit phone. Not sure why I was expecting Jarold to be working this late or why I was expecting him to call or text soon. Those two, Carl and Travis, deserve answers. It was ultimately my fault that James died and I need to take responsibility for his death. As well as all those innocents.

The moment my phone buzzed with a text, I scrambled for it as best as my tired body could and read the text. It wasn't from Jarold but from Ahri and it said turn around? When I did, I saw her standing in the arch with her phone in hand.

Ahri: Can't sleep either?

Y/N: Yeah. Sorry if I woke you with all my rummaging around.

Ahri: It's alright.

She then gazes at the empty cups and sighs.

Ahri: You shouldn't be doing this to yourself. I know I'm one to talk after... what I went through... but still.

I still don't know if she's completely fine or not. Part of me doubted she was but I chose to keep silent on the matter. I don't know if it's selfish or not to prioritize Carl and Travis over her. It does make me feel like a shitty boyfriend though. Actually, it makes me feel worse given what's been going on lately. At least the Ruined King group provided her the help she needed. For that alone, I'm very grateful. Them coming to our aid in Bilgewater was just icing on the cake. Ahri then comes over and lays herself on my back. She then uses one of her ails to pluck both our phones away so she could hold my hand.

Ahri: I missed this...

Y/N: I did too...

Even though we've been glued to each other most of the day. Grabbing hold of her other arm as she wraps it around me, I keep it close, and enjoy her touch once again.

Ahri: I... I still see him...

Y/N: Jhin?

I feel her nod her head against me as she squeezes my hand. I wonder if Kai'sa sees James when she closes her eyes. While she is more hardy than both Ahri and Sonya, she's still human. She'll no doubt want to come with me when we are able to visit Carl and Travis.

Ahri: Y-Y/N... can I ask a favor...?

Y/N: Anything you need, I'll try and provide it.

Ahri: Thank you.... um...

She shifts around, telling me she is feeling rather uneasy. The other thing that got my attention was how hot she felt. It was like she was burning up. It was honestly making me a little nervous.

Ahri: Could we... try to go back to bed... together?

I don't know if I'll be able to fall asleep after all the coffee I just had and I'm sure I'll have the runs soon. Saying no was a no-go though.

Y/N: Yeah, we can try.

She nods again and pries herself off me long enough for me to stand up. I'll probably end up overthinking while laying in bed or something like that so I'll need to distract myself with her ears and tails. It was cold enough tonight that we could use the latter as a blanket. As we reach the room, the atmosphere felt very different. Unlike the kitchen which was gloomy, this felt relaxing. Ahri had lit one of my more preferred candles and set it off to the side. I then suddenly jump when I heard the door close and lock. Looking back, I see Ahri with tears running down her face. Part of me began to panic despite knowing she couldn't hurt me.
