Kai'sa POV

When we returned to the hotel room Ahri was quick to get changed and into bed with Y/N. I do not quite understand the depth of her attachment to him but it seems to be good for both of them. I originally thought it would just be good for Y/N but Ahri has proven me wrong. I guess humans do improve one another. Perhaps I could experience that one day. I'll have much to do and understand beforehand though. This was also the first time I myself felt... safe. It was nearly two months ago that I was still here fighting the Void. Fast forward to now and I would've never imagined I'd feel like this. Then there's this carapace. It's been silent, or rather dormant.

Normally, it would be quite upset that I have not fed it any void essence by now. Curiosity began to take over every corner of my mind as I began to grip the bit around my collarbone. For the first time in years, I had hope that this was going to work. I slowly pull at the carapace and to my complete shock, it was easy to peel off. In a panic, I place it back against my skin.

Kai'sa: It actually came off...

For a whole decade, I've lived in fear of this thing. Assuming that when I had fed it too much that it would completely overtake me. Death would have been a mercy had things gone that far. I begin pulling at it again and testing just how far I could go. The further I went and more and more shocked I was. It made me step into the bathroom so as to not wake the others. I kept pulling until my entire right arm was free. My breathing was off as I gazed at the skin that was truly my own. It had been so long that I thought it would be tainted or disgusting. I even got to see the binding mark. I could make out some of it on the carapace but now, to see it completely.

Could this be the reason? If so then what is this thing, really? There was no mention of it doing something like this. Could it perhaps change the person as a whole? I had to see if it was true. After a few moments of peeling it off that I discovered something along the back of my neck, just underneath my hair. It felt like I could push it. I couldn't help but hesitate. This button thing could lead to something bad. Unfortunately, I'd have to swallow my fear and face it. When I pressed it, the carapace began to rumble to life. At first, I was afraid that it had been awoken but it was actually something else. The suit, the shoulder cannons, it all started to move toward the button thing on my neck.

The next time I looked in the mirror it was all gone. I could see the skin that had been hidden for so long. There was no time to be embarrassed about my naked body, the feeling of freedom was all I wanted. I had to feel it all again, all that had been taken from me.

Kai'sa: W-what...?

I reached up to my face and wiped something from my eye. It was a... tear...?

Kai'sa: I... I'm crying...?

It had been so long since I felt vulnerable like this. I honestly wasn't sure how to process it. Is this how Y/N felt earlier after the argument? I... no, I can't let this happen to me. I-I am a warrior who survived the Void. I can't let myself be vulnerable like this. If my emotions got in my way I'll only make mistakes. Strength is all I have and I can't let it waver lest I lose sight of who I am now. My desires are not important. With my mind made up, I press the button again and the entire suit returns. Already I miss the freedom my body had been granted but this was who I was, who I had been for so long.

Instead of resting as I had planned, I left out into the night again. Without Ahri I could move freely and without keeping an eye on her. This time I aimed my sights at the nearby mountain and flew in that direction. If there was a hidden base here I would find it despite how dark it was. As I flew through the air I couldn't help but feel the skin on my neck. It and my face were all that was left uncovered. I suppress the desire to free myself and let my helmet come over them. Once I had left the cityscape I landed in the forest below and scanned the area. I could tell something was here. Whether it was some small bird or a predator I couldn't tell.
