Ahri POV

Since we had to travel by foot, it took us a bit to get to our chosen locations with me having to separate from the group once we reached a certain point. The animal shelter was a little out of the ways compared to the L/N penthouse which was near the middle of the city. I still wasn't sure about being on my own even as I continue to walk to the shelter but at the very least, I couldn't hear Jhin whispering things into my ears anymore. I guess having sex really helped both me and Y/N. It got our minds off things, that's for sure. Thank goodness the mark preventing me from doing harm to him, otherwise, he might not have survived.

I'm... not very gentle...

Ugh! Just the thought about last night makes me want to melt. Stay focused Ahri, we're going to be busy for a little bit and your head needs to be on straight. Just go in, see if you haven't been fired for not showing up and then adopt the pet you want. Maybe if Catherine is here I can get some information about Carl and Travis. It all seemed pretty easy... and then I got to the front of the shelter. Wow, this was not gonna be easy. I'm not sure how anyone will react when they see me but let's hope it's not anger. I take a deep breathe and then walk inside with only a few side glances at first. The five people we usually have in the front room then all completely turned to look at me.

Bethany: Ahri...?

Ahri: Um... hey...

It was so hard to make eye contact. I felt too guilty to look them in the eye. When I finally did, it was Catherine I saw walking up and throwing her arms around me.

Catherine: Oh thank god, you are real!

Issac: What's going on out here?

The manager then walks into the room and sees everyone gathered around me and slightly gasps.

Issac: You're back? W- how!

Ahri: I'm... very lucky...

Fredrick: We all thought... you were killed...

Catherine: You didn't answer your phone, we couldn't find you or the others, and...

It immediately became clear who she was worried about. I disconnect her from me so I could have some space to breathe.

Ahri: Cat, please, tell me where Carl and Travis are. Our whole group is looking for them.

Catherine: You are? But, isn't that a too risky?

Ahri: We have a big enough group. And recently, a former soldier decided to join. So if we run into our killer, we'll be safe. Er, well, safer than if we didn't.

Catherine: Okay. They're both at the South Miami Valley Hospital. Just, please don't mention James. The two of the... saw what happened...

I may be able to solve that issue since we'll likely be revealing to them what's really going on. The problem is how risky it is. Not just what it might do to them but to me as well. Issac then steps up and places a hand on my shoulder.

Issac: Ahri, I need to ask you a favor.

Ahri: What is it, sir?

Issac: When this whole thing blows over, please come back to us. The animals are stressed and nobody could care for them like you. Some animals... can't handle that stress.

Ahri: I'm aware, sir. Actually, I came to adopt one.

Everyone seemed to be a little shocked by that but it didn't take them long too figure out who I wanted.

Fredrick: I will go get him. You start signing papers.

It was weird having to sign the papers with Y/N's information but it's what I was told to do. Knowing that I still had my job here helped put my heart at ease while I wrote things down. I don't know how easy it would've been in I had been fired. I'm actually looking forward to being busy soon. As I finish writing things down, I hear that familiar squawking and smiled a little.
