Ahri POV

Ari: Pretty bird!

I giggle as I pull my finger away from Ari. My shift was almost over so I thought I'd spend some time with Ari. Still couldn't understand why I could only hear his outer voice and not his inner voice. It's so weird. That's when Catherine, who is supposed to keep an eye on me due to my "problems" came over.

Catherine: Any day another dollar huh?

Ahri: Yep. Just glad to be making some tidbit of money.

She nods and holds out a little envelope to me. I take it and then place it in the little purse I had been given when I first started working here.

Catherine: The boss decided to pay you a little extra today. You are a hard worker after all. Despite having to take a lot of bathroom breaks.

Ahri: I'm getting better about that. Think I need to dial the water back.

Catherine: Just don't dehydrate yourself. The animals really love you so we don't need you worrying them.

Ahri: I'd never do that to them.

Ari: Peanuts!

I look over to Ari who was flapping his wings a little. Someday, I wanna take this bird home. I'd need to talk with Y/N about it though. With that thought, I started dwelling on what I told him. He hasn't responded nor shown any signs of thinking about it. There's no way he forgot but... No Ahri, don't think like that.

Catherine: Everything okay?

Ahri: Y-yeah, just thinking...

When I look over at her, she immediately got to analyzing my face from the looks of it. A smile then forms on her face and she leans in slowly.

Ahri: W-what...?

Catherine: You're thinking about someone, aren't you?

That made me break eye contact immediately which pretty much told her all she needed to know.

Catherine: So it is. Who is it?

Ahri: C-Catherine...

Catherine: It's okay, I can keep a secret.

A little annoyed by this for some reason, I fired at her.

Ahri: Like your secret relationship with Carl?

That made her recoil back.

Catherine: M-me and Carl aren't secretly dating! Besides, this isn't about us, it's about you and-

Ahri: My crush? That's none of your business either.

Catherine: I just wanna help!

Ahri: I don't- Ugh, know what? Never mind, I'm going home.

I give Ari one last peanut before I leave and Catherine tails me a little.

Catherine: If you actually want my help call me!

Ahri: I will not!

Catherine: Okay girl, take care.

I love Catherine but sometimes she drives me nuts. As I walk out of the shelter I immediately look for the alleyway I normally hide in. This was so I could let my features out and rest my magic. Natural mana recovery here was way better than in Runeterra so I could keep the mask on way longer. Unfortunately, some punks were hiding away in here and took notice of my presence. This would at least allow me to try out that cosplay strategy I had. I stiffen my tails up and held them in place as they came over to me.
