Ahri POV

Walking through this city during the day was a different experience from the night. I guess it's because of how much safer the daylight is. At night, I may as well be back in the forests of Ionia. Always on the run, desperate for even a little bit of safety. Things are different now. Unfortunately, not different enough. I don't have money and food will more than likely be an issue later on. I have to actually eat real food now and now just suck the souls out of people. I should be alright till Y/N gets home though. It was a very noisy city too. A lot of big metal things with wheels carrying people inside them to who knows where. I wasn't so sure about crossing those roads until I saw people crossing them. There was a white walking man on some sort of pole thing.

I quickly follow the group cause I had no real direction with where I was going. Just so I could hear any conversations I was next to, I lift the hood just a little bit. Most of what I heard was fairly uninteresting. It was either work-related or a bunch of teenagers talking about school. Honestly, it was quite boring walking around until I heard a different voice. Animal voices. I speed my pacing, avoiding people along the way, and find the source. A pet shop? So people do keep animals as pets in this world too. That's reassuring and concerning at the same time. I stepped inside and I could hear a lot of different voices. A lot of them sounded very happy or content.

Store Employee: Hello! Is there anything I can help you with ma'am?

Ahri: I'm fine. I am just looking around.

Store Employee: Alright. Is there anything, in particular, you're looking for?

Little pushy despite what I just said but I did just kind of walk in here without much thought. I hear animal voices and I just come in. Looking at the pets I could see from the store entrance, they all looked well taken care of. Made me want to take one of them home. Or two. Or three... or... all of them...

Ahri: I'm a... well, obviously I'm interested in a pet. Just don't know which one yet.

Store Employee: Are you a first-time pet keeper?

Ahri: Not exactly? I have a lot of experience with wild animals.

Store Employee: Ah, I see. You look kinda like a high school student though. Are you studying zoology?

Oh my god, are all store people this stubborn? I'd just like to look at the animals and maybe chat with one of them.

Ahri: You could say that. Listen, I'm just gonna browse for a bit. I don't know if my...

Crap, what am I supposed to call Y/N? I'm never going to call him master and I get the feeling he'd hate that name.

Ahri: Friend... may not want animals in his house. I didn't really check with him when I came here.

Store Employee: Alright. It'd be a shame for you to not adopt one of our lovely fur babies but maybe that'll change. Please let me know if there is anything you need.

She finally walks away, leaving me to check out every animal.

Dog: That human smells different. She pet me anyway?

Please don't say that! Petting animals is a hard thing to not do already, asking makes it so much harder for me.

Cat: Release me from this foul prison human! My claws aren't being sharpened well enough on this stupid pillar thing.

That thankfully sounds less pettable. That doesn't make it any less cute. Thank god I had this hoodie on cause these voices are a bit overwhelming. I then reach an aisle that had one voice I couldn't ignore. Mostly cause it wasn't a mental voice but a natural sounding one.
