Two Weeks Later
"Honey!" Arthur called from their bedroom. "Have you seen my belt?"
Amelia sighed as she stood, heading to the bedroom from the kitchen. She simply walked over to her husband's dresser and dug through the top drawer before pulling out a black belt with a silver buckle.
"I looked in there, I swear." Arthur commented as he took the belt.
"Apparently not well enough since I easily pulled it out of there." Amelia replied, walking out of their bedroom.
Arthur was planning to take Hosea out for dinner tonight. He didn't tell him yet though. He wanted it to be a surprise. He was out in the barn with Erika and Nick while Arthur got ready. Amelia told the kids to keep him busy. Then horror struck.
Nick rushed through the back door. "Grandpa collapsed!"
Amelia and Arthur's heads snapped over. Arthur jumped into action, running out the door with Nick and Amelia following quickly following. When they got out to the barn, Erika was trying to help the old man stand, but he was struggling, not able to get his footing. Erika looked up at her parents.
"What happened?" Arthur asked as he jogged over to his father figure.
"He was talking to us, and his cane slipped on the muddy ground." Erika began. "He fell hard and lost consciousness for a minute."
"I-I'm fine." Hosea tried to shrug them off.
"You fell, Hosea," Arthur snapped as he carefully hauled the older man to his feet. "Grab his cane, Erika." He looked over at Amelia. "Plans are off."
"What plans?" Hosea questioned with a shaky breath.
"Don't worry about it."
"Let's get you to bed." Amelia said as he held the barn doors open.
"I told you, I'm fine."
"Hosea, you ain't as young as you used to be. You falling like this is serious now." Amelia replied. "No more going out to the barn. The ground is too muddy out there for you."
Hosea growled but didn't say anything. Once they got to his room, Arthur carefully set him down on his bed and Amelia came over to inspect his head. She looked over at Nick.
"Go get my kit."
He nodded and went to the bathroom.
"What?" Hosea questioned.
"It's nothing serious, just a little scratch on your head, that's all."

"Bessie!" Hosea yelled across camp.
"Over here!" A young voice rang out.
Hosea peeked around a tent and saw his wife sewing a shirt that belonged to him. She smiled her pearly white teeth at him and beckoned him to sit next to her. He gladly obliged and sat down on the ground in front of his beauty of a wife.
"What did you need?" She asked.
"Hm?"
"You called my name." She giggled.
"I was just wondering where you were."
She smiled softly, going back to her sewing. Then she started coughing, hunching over the shirt as she shook the needle out of her hands. Hosea stood quickly, rubbing Bessie's back and she coughed her lungs up. She heaved as she tried to regain her breath.
