Tommy POV

3:46

The time wouldn't stop ticking away. And I wasn't even close to being finished with my schoolwork. I still had to write and draft three essays before my alarm clock struck six. I guess I wouldn't be getting any sleep, again.

With a groan, I forced my fingers to type faster, ignoring the cramps as they crawled up my arm. It was worth it. I was really just helping my friends so they wouldn't get so stressed. With school sports and their jobs, they had little to no time. My friends would fail without me, I knew that.

A soft ding followed by a buzz, forced me to come to a halt. Who would be texting me at this hour? Pushing my homework aside, I quickly read the text.

"What are you doing up this late?" -Techno

Looking up from my phone, I groaned. I didn't think Techno was going to be up this late. Clicking my fingernails on the back of the case, I couldn't help but panic. Techno would tell Phil, probably grounding me in the process. Maybe I could come up with an excuse or pretend I was sleeping- My thoughts were interrupted by another text.

"I'm coming to your room."-Techno

Biting my lip, my eyes stayed glued to the door. Techno was going to kill me, I was sure of that. Footsteps came to a stop in front of my door before a soft knock ensued. "Theseus?" a raspy voice called. I couldn't help but smile slightly at the nickname. I loved when he called me that.

"Come in." I yawned, knowing he was coming in either way. At least letting him in was much quieter as opposed to him barging through the door.

The door slowly opened, allowing the pinkette to enter. He took one look of me and started chuckling. "Kid, you're becoming me."

I offered a half smile, rubbing the exhaustion from my eyes. "I was going to go to bed soon." I mumbled, glancing towards my computer monitor. The lie was more than obvious and I knew Techno would pick up on it.

"Oh is that so?" Techno raised an eyebrow. His eyes drifted towards the stack of papers beside my computer. "It looks like your not even close to being finished to me." He made his way over to the desk, sitting in the chair. He spun around once before looking through my homework. "Why are you writing five essays that answer the same prompt?"

"Umm..." I shifted from foot to foot, trying to come up with some an excuse that Techno would actually believe. "The teacher-"

"Don't lie to me." The older crossed his arms.

Running a hand through my hair, I couldn't help but get a little defensive. Why did he have to snoop around my stuff? "Last time I checked, it's my homework. Why do you care if I write an essay five times?"

Techno's face hardly changed as he held my gaze. "If I didn't know any better, I would say some people are taking advantage of your kindness." he commented.

I rolled my eyes at his suggestion. "You don't know what you're talking about. My friends just need a little help, that's all. I'm being a good friend." I retorted, ignoring the nagging voice inside my head. What if Techno had a point?

"You're being a fool." Techno pointed out. "You should never agree to do someone else's homework, even if they are your friends."

"How would you know Techno? You don't even have friends."

The pinkette smirked. "Do you always have to take after Wilbur?" He stood up, approaching me slowly. "He did the exact same thing you're doing. The only reason he stopped was because I made him. I can do the same thing with you."

"I can make my own decisions Techno, okay? I'm just being a good friend. So will you please leave my room before we wake up Dad?" I asked, pointing towards the door.

"Only if you promise me two things." He stopped, looking down at me for confirmation. Reluctantly, I nodded, at least showing that I was somewhat listening. "One, you'll go to bed as soon as I leave." I opened my mouth to argue, but he cut me off. "You need sleep Tommy." he paused before continuing. "Two, ask your friends if they'll do the same for you. See what they say. I'll bet you, all they'll come up with is excuses. And if that's the case, they're not your friends. They're nothing but an illusion."

The idea was ridiculous. He was asking me to test my own friends. Who does that? "I am not testing my own friends. I trust them Techno-"

"Well trust me Tommy." he met my eyes. "They don't care about you or your wellbeing. They just want you for your smarts and kindness."

The growing anger inside me began to boil over. How dare he talk about my friends like that? What gave him the right to judge them? "Get out of my room." I said coldly, sending an icy glare in his direction.

"Tommy, I'm just trying to look out for you-"

"Well I don't need you to do that." I turned back towards my computer, intent on getting back to work. "I'm perfectly fine looking after myself." Techno opened his mouth to respond, but I wasn't having it. "Just leave Techno."

The pinkette solemnly nodded, making a move towards the door. He paused right before he stepped out into the hallway, turning back to Tommy, he said, "Please go to sleep Tommy." I didn't respond, still annoyed.

He left without an answer, leaving me in my desired silence. I tried to get back to work, but something kept distracting me. That little voice in my head kept asking the question.

Was I really just doing a favor?
