Techno POV

As soon as Tommy was off to school, Techno decided to call his favor in. Of course, he was going to keep his promise to his little brother. But that didn't mean he couldn't get the instructions of how to fix it without it.

It only took an hour before there was a knock on his door. Opening it, he was met with his old friend. "I was surprised to hear from you after all these years." the man chuckled. Meeting his eyes, Techno knew he was the same old Sam.

"Don't take it personal. You know keeping up with people is not really my thing." Techno beckoned him into the house. Sam was happy to oblige, stepping into their small apartment.

The pinkette lead him into the living room, barely noticing Sam's small pauses. The man couldn't help but be at awe with a picture frame. Without even looking at the image, Techno knew what was on it. Being one of the only things he had saved from their old house, he kept the photo close to his heart. It was Techno holding Tommy up on his shoulders. They were both laughing in the picture, grinning up at their mother who had taken it.

"It's crazy how big Tommy's gotten. What grade is he in now?" Sam asked causually.

"He's nearly done with eighth grade. He'll be a freshman next year."

The man smiled, "Little Toms is all grown up." Putting the picture back down, he couldn't help but ravish in the old memories. "I remember when he would follow us when we went out. He got pretty good at it too. Yet, somehow you always managed to catch him before we hit main street."

Techno rolled his eyes, knowing exactly what he was talking about. It was back with they had been rebellious teenagers with no responsibility, not a care in the world. Sam and him used to sneak out a few nights every week to go to parties, or even just to hangout and smoke. Tommy always wanted to join them, despite the fact how young he was. "You know how loud he was. The kid could never stop laughing. It's a miracle he never got caught by our parents."

Sam laughed, "Good times, huh? We had no idea what the world had planned for us." There was an awkward pause before Sam finally got to the subject Techno had been waiting for. "So, what's this project you need help with?"

"Follow me." Techno showed him towards the kitchen, where the table was currently taken over by several parts and pieces. "Behold, our project."

The man raised an eyebrow, gazing over all the pieces. Shaking his head, he remarked, "Let me guess, the school was giving away this junk?"

Techno sighed, confessing the truth. "Yeah..."

Sam began to pick up small pieces and wires, examining them carefully. "Did you ever wonder why they were throwing it away?"

"I figured they were just upgrading." he shrugged.

Sam nodded. He didn't know all of Techno's circumstances. But he understood that money was tight just by the look of his apartment. He, himself, had been in similar living conditions, being the broke college student that he had once been. "I'm not sure that even my expertises would be able to fix this..."

Techno's heart dropped. That's what he had been afraid of. "But you'll try, right? It's for Tommy... I can't imagine how devastated he'll be if he finds out it really is hopeless."

"I'm not one to turn down a challenge."

And Sam got to work, showing Techno where things were meant to go, contrast to where he had connected them. And Techno paid close attention, praying on every miracle that the computer could run again.

---------------

That day it was Techno's turn to wait anxiously by the door. Trying to contain the excitement he had proved to be very difficult. The pinkette tried to distract himself by reading a new chapter in his mythology book. But he could hardly focus on what he was reading.

So instead, he paced by the door, watching the clock like a hawk. He had never been so grateful to see the hour hand hit three. As if on cue, Tommy barged in through the door. It had to be the first time Tommy had ever been on time in his life.

Dropping his bookbag on the floor, his eyes immediately locked onto Techno's. "Did you find it? Did you find the miracle to fix the computer?"

Techno didn't waste a moment before telling him the good news. "Yup! He even gave me the parts we were apparently missing!" Just the grin on Tommy's face made it all worth it. All those long hours and late nights. All the fear of disappointing him. It was all for this moment. Just to see his little brother's face light up for the first time in years.

They got straight to work, with Tommy refusing to do anything else. Techno showed him the things Sam had taught him, allowing the boy to help wherever he could. He would never admit that Tommy had hardly done anything at all. He knew better than to break that illusion. After all, it meant the world to the kid.

After only a couple hours, they were done. Every piece was in place, every wire connected. Now came the moment of truth. Tommy's finger drifted towards the power button, hesitating ever so slightly.

They both held their breath as the button was pressed. A few seconds of darkness discouraged them, but the light came soon enough. Blinding at first, they quickly squinted at the booting up screen.

"It worked! We did it!" Tommy exclaimed, tackling Techno in a hug.

The pinkette ruffled his hair, chuckling. "We sure did Toms, we sure did."

Once the computer was loaded up, they quickly made the computer Tommy's own. Complete with a red taskbar and an old photo in the background, they were ready to begin playing.

But they didn't just play on a world together, they took the risk of playing online. The pair teamed with several different players on bedwars, allowing Techno to teach Tommy the rules of the game. The blonde was awful at the start, but he slowly managed to live longer little by little. Of course, with the blood god leading them, they won every time. But Tommy tried to help when he could. Key word, tried.

Everything was going well until they came upon two unfamiliar usernames...
