Schlatt POV
Schlatt had been laying on the couch with Jambo when he got the news. Watching random things Tiktoks on his phone, he couldn't help but feel relaxed. It had been a while since he had been able to just sit and hangout with his cat. But the moment Jambo had finally settled in his lap, his phone began to ring.
Checking the clock, Schlatt was surprised to find Wilbur calling. Sitting up a little straighter, he answered, "Hello?" A sniff came from the other side of the line, making Schlatt's heart beat faster. Was Wilbur crying? "Wilbur? What's wrong?" Schlatt figured he could handle anything. There was nothing Wilbur could say that would break him.
But he couldn't have been more wrong.
"Tommy's dead."
A tear began to trickle down his face. That couldn't be true. Tommy was the future, everyone knew that. The kid that beat the system. The kid that just couldn't be stopped. Swallowing back a sob, he stammered, "What... What happened?"
That simple sentence seemed to set off Wilbur. There was a burst of sobbing, until another voice seemed to take the phone away. Another voice, greeted him, "Hey Schlatt." But that wasn't the Phil Schlatt knew.
"Tell me it's not true," Jambo began to look at Schlatt in concern.
Phil sighed, and that was all the man needed.
His worst fears had come true.

Tubbo POV
"Will you stop killing me!" Tubbo shouted into his microphone. A laugh echoed through his headphones as Ranboo continued killing him. No matter how ran his character ran, he just couldn't escape the wrath of Ranboo. "I said I'm sorry! What else do you want?!" he shrieked as he landed another hit.
"To kill you obviously!" Ranboo exclaimed.
Tubbo barely had time to bicker back before the death screen popped up on his monitor. Groaning, he was about to shout some not so very nice words when his phone began to ring. Squinting at the name, his eyes widened. Since when did Techno call him?
"Hang on, Ranboo."
"Come on, don't be a sore loser-"
"I'm getting a phone call," he quickly muted himself. Tubbo answered the call, holding it up to his ear. "Hey Tech? What's up?"
Techno took a deep breath, "Something's happened."
Tubbo's heart began to beat faster as his brain ran through scenarios. Someone must be hurt. There was no other conclusion. But who? Were they okay? What if-
"Tommy's passed away," Techno spoke softly.
A lump formed in the brunette's throat. No. No, that wasn't possible. Tubbo had talked to Tommy a few days ago... They were planning to stream in a few days. "This is a stupid prank, Techno."
"Tubbo, this isn't a prank. Tommy died a few hours ago."
"I talked to him yesterday! He was fine."
Techno sighed, probably running a hand through his hair. "He had a seizure while we were playing last night. It turns out he had a brain tumor... In a few hours, he was gone."
Tubbo didn't respond as the words finally hit him. Tommy was gone. His best friend...
"Tubbo?"
"I have to go, Tech," And before the pinkette could say another word, he hung up. Tubbo looked back towards his monitor, quickly realizing that Ranboo was still waiting for him. He hesitated before unmuting himself. Wiping a tear from his eye, he murmured, "Ranboo..."
"It's about time! No phone call could have been that important! I was starting to think you weren't going to come back," his friend exclaimed. "Now, we should really get back to the base-"
"Tommy's dead."
Ranboo's character froze, mirroring the boy's shock. "What?"
"Techno said he passed a few hours ago..." The tears began to flow on, down his cheek and into his keyboard. He would never see his best friend again. Never laugh over a stupid prank. Never play on the same team, bickering with every chance they got. Nothing would ever be the same.
His best friend was gone.
