Tommy POV

Everything had been a bit much lately. Tommy felt himself growing more and more stressed everyday and it was getting to him. He wanted nothing more than to let himself be small for a few hours. But he couldn't, what if Wilbur found out? Then he would kick him out just like his parents did.

But the longer he resisted, the more uncontrollable it got. Thankfully, an opportunity arose a few days later with Wilbur needing to go the grocery store. Usually Tommy would go with him, but he managed to get out of it.

"I'll be back in a few hours!" Wilbur called out before letting the door swing shut.

Tommy let out a sigh of relief. Finally he was alone in the apartment. He allowed himself to regress, finding his little stuff. He kept it hidden in his closet, not wanting Wilbur to ever discover it.

Gingerly, he brought the toys out and laid them on the floor in front him. He giggled as he began to play with a small cow named Henry. The stuffed animal had always been with him through everything. He couldn't remember life without him.

Cuddling up in his baby blanket, he finally felt at peace. He never wanted to leave this headspace even though he knew he had to. So, he treasured the moments, continuing to play with a few of his other little toys.

But a sound made him freeze. The front door creaking open.

Panic seized the little. He was so deep in his headspace that it was out of his control. He immediately crawled into the closet, bringing his little stuff with him. Maybe Wilbur wouldn't find him. Bringing Henry to his face, he could barely fight back the tears.

"Tommy? Toms, where are you?" Wilbur called out, the worry laced in his voice.

Tommy only panicked more as the footsteps began to race around their apartment. Tears began to fall as he realized Wilbur was going to kick him out just like his parents. He would call him a freak, he would hate him. The little began sobbing as his door creaked open.

There was a pause before Wilbur approached the closest. "Toms?" he whispered, softly knocking on the closest. "Can you come out and tell me what's wrong?" His voice was nothing but patience, but even his parents sounded the same when they discovered him.

"No!" he wailed, terrified out of his skin. He didn't want to leave. This was his home. He didn't want Wilbur to hate him.

Wilbur took a deep breath. "Why not Toms? Can you tell me what's wrong?" He again knocked on the closest.

Tommy burst into more tears, knowing there was no way out of this. "You'll hate me!" he exclaimed, holding Henry even closer. He could feel himself slipping further.

The brunette immediately protested. "I could never Toms! You're my little brother no matter what. Can you please open the door?" There that patience was again, gentle as always.

Biting his lip, Tommy knew he couldn't stay in the closet forever. Besides, it was best to just get it over with. Sniffing, he peeked open the door, immediately meeting Wilbur's concerned eyes. "Please don't hate-e me." he whimpered, shutting his eyes tight.

Wilbur frowned, carefully opening the door further. He held his arms open, giving him a small smile. Tommy didn't hesitate to climb into them, the idea of comfort sounding like Heaven in that moment. Wilbur rubbed his back gently, whispering soft reassurances. "You're alright Toms, I'm right here. You're safe, alright? I'm not going anywhere."

They sat on the floor for a long time, Wilbur continuing to comfort Tommy. It was only when the blonde's tears finally stopped that he asked the question. "What's happening Toms? Can you explain it to me? I promise I would never judge you."

Tommy held up four fingers, murmuring, "I-I'm feeling four."

"Four?" Wilbur raised an eyebrow, immediately relaxing his expression when he saw how it upset Tommy. "You're feeling small?" he asked gently, slowly realizing what he meant. He had heard of this before. Age regression. He paused, glancing towards the closest. "Why were you hiding in the closest bud?"

Tommy began to chew on his fingers, his nerves getting the best of him. "I-I didn't want you to kick me out-t." he stuttered, mixing his words together.

Wilbur immediately understood, shaking his head. "Tommy, I would never kick you out, never. Especially not for something like this. Do you... do you want me to be your caretaker?" he asked nervously.

Tommy thought for a moment before nodding slowly.

"How about... how about we got make some warm milk and then you can take a nap. How does that sound?" Wilbur smiled at the younger fondly.

The blonde giggled again nodding.

Wilbur kissed the boy's forehead, smiling to himself. "I'll always love you Toms, no matter what."

"Thanks Wilby." Tommy said shyly.

The brunette's heart melted at the nickname. Oh how he loved his little brother more than anything. And nothing could ever change that.
