Tommy POV

Monday came far too quickly. Each day of the weekend had blurred into one and before he knew it, he was pausing outside the front door debating whether or not to run back inside.

It wasn't hard to figure out what the day would bring. He knew the bullies would still hold their resentment towards him, especially after his lucky escape. The big question is when? When would they strike?

Standing there in a trance of his thoughts, he didn't register Techno calling out to him. "Come on, Tommy! I know you don't care about being late to class, but I do!" The words forced his legs into step and he quickly slipped into the backseat beside Wilbur. He had no right to make his brothers late. Even if that were to delay his own fate.

Wilbur and Techno talked about anything and everything on the car ride there, often looking over towards the blonde. Tommy paid no mind, instead focusing every ounce of his brain power into the tapping of his fingers on the interior of the car door. His heart felt like a ticking time bomb, each beat speeding up more and more with each passing second.

Techno threw the car in park. He paused before reaching for the car handle, turning towards Tommy instead. "Remind me what time your audition gets done?"

"I signed up for four... I don't know how long it will go," Tommy shrugged, knowing that sometimes they went longer than planned. "I can walk if-"

"We went over this, Tommy," This time it was Wilbur's turn to scowl at him. "Tech is already picking me up. Besides, I can meet up with you right after your audition." Tommy opened his mouth to insist he could walk home, but the brunette cut him off. "Walking home is out of the question, Toms."

Tommy huffed, "Fine." But he wasn't surprised to feel the growing relief that pooled in his chest. He just had to survive the school day and the time before the audition. Glancing back towards the sea of kids rushing into the school like rush hour, Tommy hoped he could manage that.

The ringing of the bell coaxed the brothers out of the car. Tommy began his slow walk towards the entrance, his fingers tightening around the strap of his backpack. Despite the slight relief he felt, he still had a bad feeling about today.

Techno and Wilbur slowed down beside him, exchanging a look before stopping the younger. "Techno and I have been talking..." Tommy's blue eyes met his brown ones. "And we've decided we're stick with you today."

Tommy's head tilted as he furrowed his eyebrows. "Stick with me? Don't you guys have class today?" Not that he hated the idea. He just couldn't avoid the idea of being a burden.

Techno chuckled darkly, "Don't worry about that. I could skip this entire week of classes and still be valedictorian. Between the two of us, we won't leave your side."

"But that-"

"What he means is, the teachers we have won't mind us being a few minutes late. Especially if we explain the circumstances," Wilbur explained.

"Circumstances?" Tommy gulped at the irritation of the word.

The duo paused before Techno took on the question. "We just want to make sure you're safe, Toms. That's all."

"And we've been missing our favorite blonde lately!" Wilbur chimed in, watching as the dark storm clouds seemed to brew in his eyes. His tone softened, "I'd rather not see you sitting alone at lunch."

Tommy wanted to scream about how childish they made him seem. That he could take care of himself better than anyone. That he want their help. That he didn't need it. But the rational part of his brain knew it was a lie.

He thought back to all those times in the orphanage where he had laid awake, wishing on the brightest star outside his window. All he had ever wanted was someone to look after him. Someone to hold him tight after a nightmare. Someone who would protect him from all the bullies. He just wanted a brother.
