Tommy POV

Tommy didn't remember his parents. Not even the slightest part of a name. All he could assume was that he shared their looks in one way or another. Maybe he had his father's golden hair. Or maybe he had his mother's bright blue eyes.

He didn't know them and probably never would. But that didn't stop him from imagining what they might look like. To cure his own curiousity, he created his own versions, or at least what he hoped their appearance was.

He imagined his mother's name was Daisy... daisies had always been his favorite flower. He pictured her with long auburn hair, always formed in some kind of braid. She would have bright blue eyes that mirrored the river in the late afternoon, much like his own. Purple would be her color. His mother would be bold and mellow at the same time.

His father was even easier to create. Henry would be his name, Tommy was sure of that. The teen always smiled at the thought of looking like him. Blonde locks that carried down to his shoulders, most likely unkept. Maybe he would like blue... or even green. Tommy could never pinpoint an exact color. But Tommy was positive he would be the protective type.

But all his dreaming could never change the fact that they left him.

In the middle of the night or at the dawn of morning, they abandoned him. Nothing less than a toddler, he had been bundled up in a blanket. Tommy was lucky to have survived that night. He assumed his parents believed he was dead. Why else would they have left him? And he would have died too. If the wolves hadn't discovered him.

Tommy didn't know why they came to him. He always figured it was because he was so small. Wolves have a natural instinct to protect the weak. Hearing a baby crying in the midst of the night probably alarmed them. After inspecting him, they would have gently picked him up, allowing him to grasp onto their fur. They had left that blanket with no look back. And that was the night they vowed to protect him as one of their own.

Now he was sixteen, barely aware of the number. He lived his life in the woods, truly becoming one of the pack. Living on berries and anything else he could scavenge, he believed the woods were his only destiny. The thought of an outside world was nothing less than daunting. Because of that, he was far from human, hardly speaking a word of any language.

Tommy found joy in walking through the woods. Listening to the leaves, he enjoyed the peace. The wolves kept a steady pace with him, looking after the newest pups. Tommy spent most of his time with them, exploring and showing them the world. It seemed to be his accepted role in the pack.

The abrupt snap of a twig made Tommy pause. The alpha, along with the others looked around in alarm. Their ears twitched as they strained them to listen. Tommy took a step forward, immediately recieving a growl. Whimpering, Tommy stood still. The alpha always made the first move in any situation.

An arrow whizzed through the air, coming from a completely different direction. A cry of pain erupted from a young female. Growls echoed through the group as the wolves rushed to defend the pack.

Tommy crawled towards the wounded wolf, worry filling his eyes. The wolf whimpered, licking the coming blood. Anger boiled inside him as his eyes narrowed on the arrow. Any closer to the heart and it would have been lethal. Ignoring the world around them, he gently grasped the arrow. Tommy pulled with all his strength, successfully removing it. But it didn't come without pain. The wolf cried out, nearly collasping.

A growl came from behind him. Tommy froze, slowly turning to face the alpha. The giant wolf stood over him, continuing to growl. He believed Tommy had only hurt the female worse. Tommy knew better than to argue, but he couldn't help it. He would never harm his family! But the alpha was always looking for reasons to cast him out.

The alpha snapped at him, finally causing the blonde to back down. He laid on his stomach, keeping his head low to the ground. A voice suddenly came over them, turning the wolf's attention away.

"Hey kid!" Tommy looked up, confused at the pattern of sounds. His eyes widened as he spotted the new creature. It looked just like him... even matching the species of his parents. "Get away from him!" he shouted again, raising his bow. Several arrows, whizzed by, luckily missing their mark.

At the sight of the weapon, a few wolves rushed towards him. Tommy was urged to his feet. Turning his attention to the pups, he carefully cradled a couple of them in his arms. The alpha began to stalk towards the brunette, a low growl in his throat.

Tommy got to his feet, his eyes locked on the creature. A wolf nipped at his heels, insisting on a run. Holding the puppies close to his chest, he followed after the remaining wolves. He only went a few paces before pausing.

Again, he looked back towards the creature.

Was he really like him?
