Tubbo POV
Tubbo bit his lip, trying to find something to talk about. The last time he had talked to Dream was when he found out about the smoking... He had never seen his older brother like that before. Dream had been fuming at the idea of his little brother falling into such an awful habit. Especially after he knowing a few friends who had gotten cancer because of it.
The duo walked in silence, avoiding each other's eyes. Neither one of them knew what to say.
Tubbo looked up towards the sky, seeing how many constellations he could name. It wasn't many, but it was at least time consuming. He was so focused that he didn't even notice the sign he was about to walk into. But Dream did.
Dream suddenly grabbed him by the arm, pulling him safely to his side. Tubbo gasped, finally taking his eyes off the night sky. Embarrassment filled his cheeks. Looking up at Dream, he muttered, "Thanks."
Dream rolled his eyes, "Whatever."
Tubbo shrunk back a bit, finding a rock to kick between his feet. Listening to the silence, it became unbearable. Sighing, he finally spoke up. "I'm sorry you found out."
The blonde glanced towards him, raising an eyebrow. "Sorry I found out? Tubbo I'm glad I found out. The last thing I want is you for to go through this on your own."
Tubbo was surprised by his words. Wasn't he mad at him?
As though Dream could read his mind, he said, "I'm not mad at you Tubs. I just... I wish I could have kept you away from this kind of stuff. I've known a lot of people who got addicted to smoking. And it never ends well. Most of those people..." he swallowed, forcing himself to continue. "Most of them are g-gone."
Tubbo's eyes widened as the realization hit him. Dream thought he was going to lose him. Without even thinking, he tackled Dream in a hug. The blonde stiffened before melting into the hug. "You won't lose me like Dream. I-I'll get better, I promise."
"So who's all going to be there again?" Dream asked, reluctantly letting go of the hug. They continued walking, heading towards their destination.
"Ranboo, Niki, Tommy, Wilbur, and Techno-"
"Techno?" Dream repeated the name like it was poison. "You didn't say he was going to be there."
"I'm pretty sure I did." Tubbo rolled his eyes, skipping a rock between his feet. "I said Tommy's brothers, isn't that enough?"
Dream huffed in annoyance but said nothing. He continued walking, shoving his hands in the pocket of his sweatshirt.
Tubbo looked up, happy to see the sky was clear. It was the perfect night for stargazing. Even the moon was hidden behind its new moon phase. "Isn't the sky beautiful?" he whispered, grinning widely.
The blonde glanced towards the younger, his gaze softening ever so slightly. He turned to look up at the sky, agreeing, "I guess, it is."
Tubbo turned to him, "Aren't you at least a little bit excited?" He fell in line with his brother, awaiting an answer.
Dream sighed, "I don't really hangout with these people. And as far as Techno goes... let's just say we're not friends." He avoided catching Tubbo's eyes, choosing to stare at the ground instead.
Tubbo was silent, thinking hard about something. How could he make his brother happy? It wasn't until they reached the old house that he realized the answer. Smiling brightly at Dream, he exclaimed, "I'll let you sit next to me! You hangout with me all the time so it shouldn't be any different really."
Dream studied the younger, trying to decide if he actually meant it. Thinking harder, he knew Tubbo did. Tubbo always meant well. Smiling back, he ruffled the brunette's hair. "Thanks Tubs."
Tubbo grinned back, feeling a sense of pride fill his chest. Heading towards the second level, he called out, "I'll race you to the window!" He took off, careful not to trip over any of the old planks that stuck out.
"Oh you're on!" Dream shouted, chasing after him.
The brothers laughed as they ran, Tubbo barely managing to win. Dream followed behind, chuckling to himself. It wasn't like he let Tubbo win... or maybe he did.
Tubbo climbed out of the window, immediately announcing his presence. "Hey guys!"
Greetings came from the roof, some more certain than others. Taking a deep breath, Dream made his way to the roof, joining his brother. He waved, murmuring a hello.
Tubbo waved Dream over, laying beside Niki. "I saved a spot just for you." he whispered, grinning from ear to ear.
The blonde felt his heart melt, but he showed no sign of it. Laying beside the brunette, he tried to find a comfortable position. Tubbo scooted closer to him, staring up at the stars dreamily.
Dream glanced towards everyone else was there, instantly noticing the connections. Niki had her arm wrapped around Ranboo, pointing up to the constellations excitedly. Ranboo listened attentively, trying to point other collections of stars.
Looking further down, Techno and Wilbur were talking to Tommy, laughing at the blonde's jokes. Tommy truly looked happier than he had ever been talking to his brothers.
Dream looked back at Tubbo, finding the blue eyes staring at him. "Is this okay?" he asked, fidgeting with his hands nervously.
The blonde grinned, wrapping an arm around the younger and pulling him closer.
"This is perfect."
