Tommy POV

The days continued onward as they usually did. Tommy waited for Techno every day, wanting nothing more than to spend time with him. What he didn't consider was how it could get any better. But Techno found a way.

One day Techno arrived with a box in his arms. Tommy jumped up from the couch at the sound of the door opening. Immediately he was intrigued by the idea of something new. "What's that Techno? What's that?" he asked excitedly.

The older glanced down at him with a bright smile. "They were getting rid of some computers at school. And I figured if they were going to use it, then we could put it to go use." He set the box down on the kitchen table before turning to Tommy. "Do you know what this means?"

"What?" His bright blue eyes lit up.

"We can finally play together!" Techno grinned.

Tommy's eyes widened as he realized what that meant. He didn't always have to watch Techno have all the fun, this meant he could join him! They could play together! Tommy had been wanting another computer for a while now. But he always been so nervous to ask. With the bills being so expensive and Techno already taking care of everything else... it seemed selfish.

But here Tommy stood, in front of the box that gave him so much excitement. Turning to Techno, he didn't waste a moment before tackling his brother. "Thank you! Thank you!" he exclaimed, hugging him tight. "You're the best Techno!"

"I know." Techno smirked, hugging back nonetheless.

Tommy pulled back before rushing to the box. Taking out piece after piece, he looked towards the pinkette in confusion. "Is it... broken?" he sighed. He knew it wasn't going to be new, but a small fragment of him couldn't help but wish it.

Running a hand through his hair, Techno confessed, "There's a reason they were throwing it away..." But he quickly backstepped, "But everything we need is in there. I thought maybe the two of us could put it together... like a-"

"A project?" Tommy finished. Looking towards Techno, there was a new fire in his eyes. "You really think we could fix it?"

Techno rolled his eyes, "Well obviously." He picked up the monitor, ignoring the crack that ran through the middle of it. "You up for it?"

The blonde paused before his bright spirit rose up again. "Yeah! Let's get started!" Tommy rushed to his side, reaching out for another piece, this one part of the tower. He didn't miss Techno's genuine smile at his excitement.

Fixing the computer proved to be more difficult than they originally thought. They worked day and night on their project, with little progress. Apparently there was a reason the school had throw the old computer away. Between the missing wires and the broken mother board, trying to piece it together was a nightmare.

But Tommy wasn't willing to give up. While he didn't necessarily have the knowledge, he definitely brought the enthusiam. He was always asking the questions and forging ahead to find solutions. Techno never had the heart to tell him his 'solutions' didn't work.

"Tommy." Techno began, glancing towards the clock. It was late, too late for a school night.

But Tommy was determined. "We're so close Techno! All the wires look right! Now we just have to turn it on!" He searched for the start button, his hands drifting along the tower. Grinning, he pushed the button in before turning back to the screen excitedly. "It's gonna work this time, I just know it!"

Techno smiled half heartedly. He wanted it to work, truly he did. But when a minute passed with a black screen looking back at them, he was doubtful.

But Tommy somehow never gave up hope. He pressed the button again, praying for the black to change to white. But nothing happened. Groaning, he felt a small prick of disappointment. "What could we be missing? I don't get it."

"Look Toms, why don't we leave this for another night? You've got school tomorrow. And it's Friday, which means you can stay up later." Techno persuaded.

Tommy yawned, turning away in an attempt to hide his exhaustion. "Can't you let me stay home tomorrow? We're so close to finally fixing this!" he begged. He knew they were close, he just knew it.

But Techno didn't let his soft spot for the boy change his decision. Shaking his head, he spoke firmly, "You have to go to school Tommy. It's just one more day, alright?"

The blonde sighed, his disappointment immeasurable. "More like one day in misery." he grumbled.

The older paused, and for a moment Tommy thought he had really changed his mind. "Look, I'll make you a promise, alright?" The blonde perked up at that. "I'll research some more and find the problem."

"You won't work on it without me?" Tommy asked, his eyes begging. The last thing he wanted was for Techno to spend all night working on something like this. Especially without his help.

Techno shook his head, crossing his heart. "I won't, I promise."

Tommy thought for a moment before piping up, "I'll research too! You know Ranboo is pretty handy with computers! Maybe he can-"

"-I'm sure this is out of his expertises too Toms." The pinkette glanced towards the shell of a computer. "I've got this friend who still owes me a favor... Maybe he would be willing to help."

Tommy folded his arms. "How is this any different than me asking my friend for help?"

"The difference is that my friend has a degree in computer engineering. Not to mention, he's much more experienced."

Tommy bit his lip, unsure of how to counter that. He made the mistake of looking at the clock, leading Techno to do the same thing. Before his older brother could even open his mouth, he stood up. "I'm going! I'm going!"

"Good night." Techno called after him.

Tommy mumbled the words back to him before disappearing around the corner. Sometimes he hated how stubborn his brother was. Yawning once more, he ignored the part of him that was thankful.

Tommy quickly changed into his pajamas before climbing into bed. He could only hope the coming hours would pass quickly. He knew they were close to fixing it, he just knew it!

The boy could hardly wait to play with his big brother. And play online! He had never played online before. But having his own computer meant he could explore all the things Minecraft had to offer.

If only he knew the friendships Minecraft would grant. His smile would be even wider.
