Tommy POV

Tommy rubbed his eyes, attempting to wipe away his exhaustion. He had been at this for nearly two hours now. And he was still no closer to finishing the first page. Groaning, he glanced towards the clock. How was it already ten o'clock?!

His eyes burned with frustration. Why couldn't he do this? Why was nothing making sense?! He gripped his pencil firmer, wanting nothing more than to snap it in half. Again he stared down at the page in front of him. But no matter how long he stared at it, it still didn't make any sense.

Tommy buried his face in his arms, struggling to hold back tears. He was a failure and he knew it. This was the easiest chapter in the book and he still couldn't get it. Tommy closed his eyes, wishing a hole would swallow him up. He listened to the silence around him.

His ears perked up at the sound of laughter that filled the house. Of course, tonight was game night! He had been looking forward to it all week. Every part of him wanted to jump to his feet and join them. But one look at his pile of homework drained every ounce of excitement. He just didn't have time.

Shaking his head, he attempted to focus his attention back on his homework. But the laughter didn't seem to stop. The sound gripped his heart, digging into his soul. His grip tightened even more on pencil, successfully snapping it in half. He sighed, scrapping the pieces into the trash.

As if things could get any worse, there was a sudden knock on his door. Tommy closed his eyes, not wanting his family to see him like this. He wanted to keep up the illusion that he was great at school, just like Wilbur and Techno. He didn't want to be the disappointment.

"I-I'm busy!" he shouted, cursing himself for stuttering. He could only pray it wasn't Techno. The pinkette was the hardest to fool.

"But it's Friday!" Tommy could only feel relief at the sound of Wilbur's whining.

The blonde couldn't help but smile. "Not tonight Wil." He ignored every part of him that was insisting he could join him. The homework could wait another day. It would still be there in the morning. But that thought had been recurring throughout the week. He couldn't wait any longer, his anxiety couldn't handle it.

"Toms come on! Game night is no fun without you!" the brunette begged.

Tommy chuckled, "Did you really just admit that? Don't let Techno hear you." For a moment all his stress vanished, replaced by the playful joy he had been blessed with. But one look at the stack of papers made it all come rushing back. "I'm sorry Wil, but I have to get this done."

There was a pause before Wilbur's footsteps echoed back down the hallway and away from Tommy's room. The blonde sighed, staring back down at the page. The words and numbers were just a blur with no hope of being able to understand them. Frustration filled his eyes, falling down in tears. He just couldn't do it! Why was he so stupid?!

Before he knew it tear stains splattered all over the page, smudging the little work he had done. That only made him feel worse. He buried his face in his hands, attempting to take deep breaths. But it only came out in sobs. Why was he having such a hard time?

The sound of laughter again reached his ears. How come they got to have fun while he struggled? It wasn't fair, he thought bitterly. But he knew it wasn't their fault. They were smart. Tugging at his hair, he couldn't stop himself from banging his head on his desk.

It was much louder than he intended, casting the house into silence. Two pairs of footsteps approached his door, gently knocking. "Toms? You alright?"

Tommy cursed at the sound of Techno. He couldn't fool Techno. "Y-yeah." he tried to say, but again all that came out was a sob.
