TW- smoking and drinking

Tommy POV

Fifteen more minutes passed before the window opened again, accompanied by the clatter of bottles. The figure made their way over to the other two, sitting beside Tommy.

The blonde smirked, sitting up. "About time you showed up."

"Sorry. Schlatt took a lot of convincing." Ranboo explained, grabbing a bottle. Slipping his pocket knife out of his pocket, he quickly popped the cap off. He sighed, "I'm worried he'll tell Wilbur and Techno though."

Tommy shook his head, grabbing a bottle. "He wouldn't dare. He's too cool for that." He offered the bottle to Ranboo to open, who opened it before handing it back.

"I wouldn't be so sure. He seemed very hesitant on even buying me any." Ranboo commented, uncertainty filling his voice. Glancing towards Tubbo, he offered a drink but the brunette was quick to refuse.

Tommy shrugged it off, "I wouldn't worry too much about it Ranboo."

Ranboo allowed the subject to drop, his eyes glued to the bottle in his hand. He couldn't believe he was even holding it. "Are you sure this stuff even tastes good?"

The blonde nodded, "It must be." He brought the drink to his lips, allowing the liquid to fill his mouth. His eyes watered as he gulped it down, but he said nothing. It was numbing and that's what he wanted. He could care less about how bad it tasted.

Ranboo took a sip before immediately going into a coughing fit. "How do people even drink that?!" he coughed, pushing the bottle away from him.

"Oh come on, it's not that bad." Tommy rolled his eyes, taking another sip. It burned his throat, but it was more bearable than the first time.

"You're crazy Toms." Ranboo stared at him in disbelief. He turned to Tubbo, "Do you have any extra cigarettes Tubs? I meant to grab mine, but I didn't get the chance. Ever since Niki found out I smoke, I've had to hide them."

Tubbo nodded, digging through his pockets and pulling out a packet. He held it out to Ranboo who took one gratefully. "Is she still trying to get you to stop?"

"Of course she is! She wouldn't stop going on about it. Between her and Foolish it drives me crazy!" Ranboo exclaimed, lighting the cigarette and bringing it to his lips. "You're so lucky your siblings haven't found out."

Tubbo let out a puff of smoke. "It won't be long. Dream is already suspicious. I can already hear the lecturing that will come out of that." he groaned at the thought.

"I don't know why you guys care so much about what your siblings think. They can't control what you do." Tommy rolled his eyes, taking another sip. At this point he could barely taste it. "Besides, it's not like they didn't do the same thing."

"Don't act like you don't care Tommy. We all know how much you look up to Techno and Wilbur." Tubbo pointed out, letting his cigarette die out.

"Looked." Tommy corrected, not even looking at him. "I don't look up to them anymore."

Tubbo and Ranboo exchanged looks, wondering where this was coming from. Tommy had always been the closest to his brothers, always boasting about how much he admired them. How could that change so suddenly?

"Where is this coming from?" Tubbo questioned, worry lacing his words. "Did something happen?"

"Something always happens." Tommy replied, staring into the sky.

A moment of silence passed. But Ranboo was not about to let the subject drop. "Are you going to tell us?" he asked, eyeing the bottle in Tommy's hands.

The blonde said nothing, simply drinking more. He drank more and more, until there was nothing left. He had drunk every last drop, but still his thirst hadn't been clenched. "Hand me another beer will you Ranboo?"

"No." the brunette refused. He wanted an answer. "Not until you tell us what happened."

"Nothing happened!" Tommy laughed, "I was probably overreacting like always." He reached for another bottle, but Ranboo pushed him away. "Ranboo-"

"What happened?" Ranboo demanded, his eyes locking on Tommy's.

Tommy sighed, shifting uncomfortably at his directness. "Come on Toms, you know we won't judge you. Besides, you promised you would tell me as soon as Ranboo got here." Tubbo piped up, encouraging the blonde to open up.

Tommy took a deep breath, finally admitting defeat. They were his best friends after all. They would never judge him. "They don't care about me anymore. Hell I don't even think they cared about me in the first place!" He grew quieter as the weight of his words finally dawned on me. "Not that I'm surprised... I'm nothing but a disappointment to the family."

"What on earth are you talking about!?" Ranboo exclaimed.

"Yeah, where is this coming from?" Tubbo added, looking more alarmed than ever.

Tommy sighed, not knowing where to start. "I overheard them the other night... they just kept talking about how I wasn't living up to the family name. They couldn't understand why I wasn't as good as them. They-" he swallowed, turning away so they wouldn't see the coming tears. "They said they were embarrassed to even call me their brother."

"They what?!" Tubbo and Ranboo exclaimed, not believing what they were saying.

"I shouldn't be surprised." Tommy wiped his eyes, eventually giving up and letting the tears fall. "I should have known they would want to get rid of me after all. Every family does. I just- I just thought they were different. I guess that was my mistake." Again he reached for another bottle, but instead was pulled into a hug.

"Your brothers are jerks." Ranboo growled, pulling him close. Tubbo joined in the hug, crying tears of his own. "But I know Phil would never give you back. He loves you too much."

Tommy shook his head, pulling out of the hug. "For them he would. Their his biological children... I'm just some orphan he felt pity for." He took a deep breath. "Besides, their right. I am a disappointment. I should have never pretended to be something else."

"But you're not!" Tubbo cried, distraught that his best friend could ever think such a thing. "You could never be a disappointment. You're an amazing person no matter what those jerks say. You're our best friend."

Tommy couldn't resist a smile at that. Somehow Tubbo always knew the right words to say. "Thanks Tubs. That... that really means the world to me."

Sighing, Ranboo glanced at his watch. "We should probably all head home."

Tommy shook his head, "You guys can go, but I'm not. I don't want to go home." He laid back down, fully prepared to spend the night out there.

"Well I'm not leaving out here all by yourself." Tubbo said stubbornly, laying beside him.

Ranboo couldn't help but smile. "Well I'm definitely not leaving you two up here all alone. Who knows how much chaos you two would cause."

Tommy grinned, moving closer to his best friends. The trio watched the night sky, allowing their worries to leave them for the night.

There was no telling what tomorrow would bring.
