Tommy POV

Tommy and Wilbur had been meeting for a few months and the blonde had already learned so much. It didn't mean he was completely fluent or always said the right word. But he knew enough to be able to hold a conversation for the most part. The blonde would even go so far as to say they were becoming friends.

Tommy could hardly believe how fast he had learned. If he didn't know any better he would even say it came naturally. Speaking the new language felt so right. As the days passed, he struggled a bit more with the wolf language. Suddenly he was misinterperting things.

Tommy knew he wasn't on the alpha's good side. With him constantly disappearing all the time and always returning with strange smells, it wasn't hard to figure out why. But Tommy didn't want to stop meeting with Wilbur. But he didn't want to leave his pack either.

The blonde struggled to find peace within the dilema, constantly putting aside. But time was ticking down much quicker than he thought it was.

One day Tommy met with Wilbur, as per usual. But something was off about the brunette. There was new hesitation, like he wanted to ask something.

"Something wrong?" Tommy questioned, watching the older carefully. His wolf senses were still intact even with the new language.

Wilbur glanced at him, a small shimmer of pride in his eyes. "There... there's something I want to ask you. And you can refuse..."

"R-refuse?" Tommy stumbled over the new word. He turned back to the brunette. "Meaning?" He couldn't help but get distracted with the thought of learning a new word. But one look from Wilbur brought him back to his bewilderment.

"You can say no." Wilbur rephrased, taking a deep breath. Sometimes Tommy wondered how he could be so patient. "I..." He shook his head, finding the right words. "Will you meet my pack?"

Tommy stared at him, slowly processing what he meant. He had a pack too? Were they really that similar? But the thought quickly disappeared as he considered it. Obviously being part of a pack meant somthing different in human terms. "Number?" he asked quietly.

Wilbur held out his hand, revealing a number. Tommy fidgeted with him own fingers, trying to decipher this new code. It was one thing they hadn't quite gotten to. But Tommy didn't mind a challenge. If anything, it excited him.

"One... two?" he looked at the older for confirmation.

Wilbur nodded, ruffling his hair. "That's right!" Tommy grinned at him. He could never get tired of his praises, even after all these weeks.

Tommy thought for a moment. Could he handle two more people? Instantly, his brain screamed no. But his heart seemed to follow a different direction. Wilbur was kind... so wouldn't his pack be the same? His blue eyes meant Wilbur's. "Nice?" he questioned, making sure he had the right word.

Wilbur smiled, "Of course. They are like me." He pointed back towards himself.

Tommy thought for a moment. "Bring here?" He didn't want to leave the safety of the forest, though he was curious. He had never seen any place outside of the woods. Going into unfamiliar territory, was nothing less than terrifying.

"What if... you go with me?" He again motioned towards himself. Glancing down towards the boy, he smiled reassuringly. "Trust?"

The blonde studied him. Could his words really be that genuine? Could he truly mean them? Shaking his head, he knew he had no reason not to trust Wilbur. Finally he nodded, "Trust."

Wilbur stood up, dusting off his pants. He offered a hand towards the younger, who eagerly took it. "Let's go." He pointed off towards the direction Tommy knew he had come from.

Tommy hesitated. "N-now?"

"It won't be long." the curly haired teen vowed. "I promise."

Tommy liked that word. It filled him with a kind of comfort he had never felt before. Not that he knew what it meant, because he didn't have the faintest clue. But before he could even ask, Wilbur was already curing his wonder.

"It's a bond that can't be broken." He explained. "Promises are sacred."

"Like trust?"

Wilbur paused before nodding. "Exactly like trust." He held out his hand towards the younger, who stared at it. "Stick together?"

Tommy smiled, entwining their fingers. He squeezed Wilbur's hand excitedly, feeling the older squeeze back. Pushing his nerves aside, he followed the brunette through the forest and away from his home.

Away from everything he knew.
