Tommy POV
Tommy shifted closer to the fire, attempting to maintain any heat he had left. The flames roared in frot of him, hungry for more wood. That was Wilbur's job of course. The blonde squinted into the darkness, hoping to see any sign of the older returning. Everything was always so much warmer when he was around.
They had been on this journey for about a month, sleeping at different stops along the route. Tommy had been so excited about this adventure. Just the idea of exploring the unknown and joining a new ambitious group of rebels was enough for the teen to sign up. But after so many long hours on the road, Tommy was tired. Everything ached with every movement. Even keeping his eyes open was a chore in itself. He could only hope that L'manberg was as exciting as Wilbur claimed it was.
The snapping of twigs made Tommy look up. He burrowed deeper into his coat, anxiously awaiting the figure that stood before him. The lanky teen stepped into the light of the blazing fire, sending relief to Tommy once he realized who it was.
Wilbur dropped his collection of wood into the fire before turning to the younger. "That should help warm you up," he smiled softly. Tommy nodded eagerly, moving a bit as the flames grew. Wilbur sat beside him, "We should be there soon."
"You said that last week," Tommy grumbled.
Wilbur sighed, wrapping an arm around the shivering boy. Tommy melted into his touch, smiling slgihtly. "Well this time, I mean it."
Tired blue eyes peered up at him, "Are you sure?"
"Positive," Wilbur slipped a folded paper out of his pocket. Unfolding it gingerly, he smiled reassuringly. But Tommy could sense his doubts. He looked over the older's shoulder, his curiousity perking up. His eyes traced back to where they came from... Earth SMP.
"We're a long way from home," he spoke quietly.
Wilbur glanced towards him, "Do you... do you regret following me?"
Tommy quickly turned, his eyes wide. What kind of a question was that? Tommy would follow his older brother anywhere. After all, he was really the only family he had. "Of course not! The only thing I regret is letting you have the map."
The brunette relaxed, rolling his eyes. "What's that supposed to mean? You can read a map better than I can?"
"Obviously!"
Wilbur laughed, smiling at the younger. Tommy grinned up at him. The fire cracked in front of them, making the brunette sigh. Noticing the flames were running low, he groaned, "I guess I better go get more firewood. Don't want my baby brother getting cold." He went to stand up, but Tommy quickly grabbed his arm. The older turned to him, raising an eyebrow.
"I don't think I'm cold anymore." Tommy bit his lip, ignoring the shiver that ran through his body. Looking into the darkness made him even colder.
Wilbur paused before chuckling, "Don't worry Toms, I'm not going anywhere." He leaned back once more, moving closer to the boy.
Tommy smiled, snuggling back into Wilbur's arms. He didn't care how long it took to get to L'manberg.
He had his brother, and that's all he needed.
