Wilbur POV
As soon as Wilbur opened the front door, a bad feeling arose in his chest. Instantly he was paranoid, checking his bags to make sure he hadn't left something behind. When he came up empty handed, he thought for a moment. What was wrong? Why wouldn't this feeling just go away?
He sat there for a few minutes, recounting where the feeling might be coming from. Even after he attempted to relax, that obnoxious feeling wouldn't go away. If anything it only seemed to grow as the moments passed. Eventually Wilbur couldn't take it anymore.
Getting to his feet, he strolled over to Techno's door. One knock turned into many. Eventually the man growled, "I'm busy!"
Wilbur's weight shifted between his feet. "Tech, I have a really bad feeling..." It wasn't the first time this had happened. Wilbur's intuition always had a meaning. And Techno knew that. Standing there, he expected Techno to roll his eyes and shout, "That's not my problem!" Or maybe not even say anything at all. Not even a minute had passed and sure enough, the sound of footsteps approached the door. A moment of hesitation came before the door burst open.
Wilbur smiled sadly at the sight of Techno. Dark moons loomed under his eyes, exhaustion falling into the little crinkles in his forehead. A blanket drooped over his shoulders, echoing his pathetic attempt to sleep. "What's wrong?" he yawned.
"I don't know," Wilbur ran a hand through his hair. "I just feel like something's wrong. Only I can't figure out what."
Techno's brown eyes softened on his younger brother. Rubbing the tiredness out of his eyes, he offered, "I'm sure you just forgot your favorite guitar pick or something. It's probably nothing serious."
But Wilbur shook his head. That had been the first thing he checked. There was more to this feeling, he was sure of it. "Maybe Tommy can-" Then he stopped. Tommy wasn't here. His eyes grew wide as he juggled with his phone. What if something happened to Tommy? What if-
"Wilbur? Wil, what's wrong? What about Tommy?" Techno couldn't help but fumble over his words. Suddenly he was panicking, even as he tried to calm his brother down.
"He's with Logan! Something must be wrong-"
"Logan... Logan Paul? You let him go meet Logan Paul... By himself?!"
"He wanted to do it! I tried to convince him not to! But he's not a kid anymore... I set some ground rules! If something were to happen, he was supposed to call me!" Wilbur erupted.
"How could you be so stupid?!"
"Stupid? I don't remember you protesting it! You were too busy in your room-"
"I was busy with college work, okay? Midterms are coming up! I don't have time-"
"Well college shouldn't be more important than Tommy!" Wilbur shouted. The two of them froze at his words. Techno stared at him with wide eyes, struggling to come to terms with his words.
"Was that ever a question? Of course Tommy is more important than college..." Techno whispered in disbelief. "You don't really think..."
Wilbur sighed, thinking back to Tommy's words earlier that day. The kid missed Techno more than anything. But the more he attempted to fix that connection, the more Techno rejected him. And to Tommy, that was the worst feeling in the world. Looking back towards his brother, part of him didn't want to tell him the truth. It would kill him to think Tommy thought that he didn't care about him. Especially when it wasn't purposeful.
But Wilbur also knew that Techno wouldn't let the matter go. He would find out one way or another. With a groan, Wilbur admitted the truth. "Tommy thinks you care more about your college work than you do him."
Techno shook his head, thinking back to all the moments he had rejected the blonde. Homework was always more important. But he hadn't truly meant it... "You know full well that's not the case."
"I do, but he doesn't." Wilbur turned back to his phone, where Tommy's icon had once again disappeared. His concern for his little brother sky rocketed immediately. "He declined my call..."
Techno had risen to his feet, grabbing his coat and his keys. Pausing at his bedroom door, he looked back towards Wilbur. "Well? Are you coming?"
"But I thought you said you had college work to do?"
"Were you even listening to our conversation? Let's go."
Wilbur was quick to follow after him, barely getting his shoes on before they were out the door. Once they were on their way, Wilbur zeroed in on Tommy's location. Looking towards the time of arrival, Wilbur could only hope they were overreacting.
But that bad feeling told him, they weren't.
