Tommy POV

Tommy sat on his bed, his head on in his hands. His body was lined with bandages, mixed with a lingering soreness. He had moved from that spot since he got there. He honestly saw no reason to.

He was trapped. He wasn't allowed to leave the house. Phil said it was because they were protecting him, but he knew better. They knew Tommy too well. They knew he would bolt as soon as he left the door. And they weren't wrong.

Tommy didn't want anything to do with them. Despite them acting like their old selves, he never forgot what they did. It was all fake and he knew it.

A soft knock came from his door, but he barely looked. He knew who it was. It was always the same person everyday.

"Hey Toms." Wilbur stepped into the room, a smile on his face. "How are you feeling?" The question should have been comforting. It should have reminded him that Wilbur cared about him. But all it did was send chills down his spine.

"Fine." he replied sharply. His eyes never left the spot. The bed shifted as Wilbur sat down beside him, a sigh escaping his lips.

He tapped his fingers on his thigh, trying to find the right thing to say. "Why don't you come and hang out with us? We've been missing you."

Tommy didn't reply. He reminded himself that this wasn't his Wilbur. And that wasn't his Techno or his Phil. He didn't have a family anymore. His friends were the closest thing to one.

"You know, I was looking in the attic a while ago. You'll never guess what I found." A playful smile was carved into his face. For a second it seemed like he was himself. He paused, obviously hoping to see a spark of excitement. He continued even when the flame never lit. "I found my old guitar! Remember how I used to play it so you could sleep? You used to get so many nightmares... But somehow my guitar always made it better." He smiled.

"I remember." Tommy murmured, his eyes welling up with tears. But he was quick to blink them away.

"Would you... would you like me to play for you?" Wilbur asked, hope filling his eyes for a brief moment.

"You... you don't have to." Every part of Tommy cried out, begging for him to say yes. To hear him play would be like relieving the past. When he had a family to love.

"I want to." Wilbur stood up, offering one last smile before leaving the room. Tommy finally looked up from his spot, staring at the spot Wilbur has stood moments before. He couldn't help but look around at his room. The same room he had grown up in many years before. It felt strange to have ever missed it.

The echoing of footsteps caused him to look up again. Wilbur walked in, his old guitar in hand. He stared into his brown eyes, hoping to see the old Wilbur. And for a brief moment he did. He found the warmth in them but it never stayed.

Wilbur sat on the bed, laying the guitar in his lap. He play with the tuning pegs for a moments, plucking the strings as he went. Tommy watched carefully, not missing the smile that lingered on his lips. When he had decided the guitar was tuned, he looked up at Tommy. "What would like to hear?"

"Anything I suppose." Tommy shrugged. He couldn't even remember the last song he had played.

Wilbur nodded, thinking for a moment before quickly choosing a song. Leaning back, he began to play a chord. He closed his eyes, embodying the music.

"I heard there was a special place.

Where men could go and emancipate

The brutality and the tyranny of their rulers.

Well, this place is real, we needn't fret.

With Fundy, Tommy, Tubbo, not Eret

It's a very big and not blown-up L'Manberg."

Tommy stared at him, watching his fingers as they played. Anger began to boil as he sang. What right Wilbur have to sing the anthem after what he did? He was the cause of it's destruction. He was it's downfall. He stood up, glaring at the brunette.

Wilbur stopped playing abruptly, staring at Tommy curiously. "What is it?"

"You have no right to sing that song."

The older paused, trying to process the words he had said. "I wrote the song Tommy."

"You destroyed L'Manberg. You destroyed our... my home." Tommy could feel the tears burning his eyes. He turned his back on Wilbur, not wanting to reveal how much he still cared. He could hear Wilbur approaching him. Arms wrapped around him, providing the comfort he didn't want. He hated Wilbur. He hated all of them. But he knew he was lying.

Tommy tried to pull away. But Wilbur's grip only tightened. "I'm sorry Tommy. But that's all in the past. We're together now. We're a family again." His words were persuasive like they always were, tugging at his heart.

Tommy hated how effective they were. He shook his head, feeling the tears as they ran down his face. He should run. Escape and be free. But it wasn't a possibility. They would never let him go.

"Come on guys! We're going to miss it!" Phil's excited voice echoed throughout the room.

"Coming!" Wilbur responded for both of them, squeezing one more time before finally letting go. He looked down at Tommy, wiping away a tear. "Come watch the sunset with us... please." His eyes were begging.

Tommy wanted to say no. If all of them left him, he could have a chance to escape. He could hide and never see them again. But his heart replied before his head. "Okay."

The grin spread on Wilbur's face. Dragging Tommy by the arm, he rushed towards the front door. The others stood ready, immediately lighting up at the sight of Tommy. Tommy hated how he smiled back. He hated how his heart swelled at the sight of them smiling at him.

They headed towards the stables, mounting their horses one by one. Tommy didn't have his own, so he was forced to share with Wilbur.

It didn't take long for them to ride towards the hills. Techno knew a great spot with the perfect view. The sun was sinking lower and lower, reminding them that time was critical that night. They raced each other to the top of the hill, jumping off their horses to get to the spot first.

The four of them laughed and joked around, finally sitting down to watch the sunset. Tommy leaned back, briefly forgetting about the past. For a moment it felt like he was really with his family. He thought about if he really could forget the past.

He stared into the sunset in wonder, remembering Dream's words. Was it really the only thing that never changed? He closed his eyes, basking the fading sunlight. Maybe he could forget the past.

Wilbur wrapped an arm around him, smiling. Techno laughed beside him, causing him to break into a smile. He could feel Phil's wings stretching out to hold all of them. It felt nice.

Maybe things could go back to the way they were.
