Tommy POV

Tommy squinted into the distance, using his hand to shade his eyes. His heart began to pound when he spotted a house in the distance. Was he really about to do this? Techno probably didn't even want to see him. He had betrayed him after all.

Shifting from foot to foot, he forced himself forward. He had come too far to turn back now. His grip tightened on the axe of peace as he walked, reminding him of his mission.

He forced his way through the snow, making him colder by the minute. He should have brought he coat. Heck, maybe he shouldn't have come at all. Who's not to say that Techno wouldn't kill him on sight? It's not like it was hard to do.

Tommy shivered at the thought, remembering the feeling. He did not want to die like that again. To die and be brought back again and again was the worst form of torture. And Dream's favorite form of it. Tommy shuddered, forcing his head out of his memories. Now was not the time.

But the memories wouldn't stop coming. And then the words came.

"Techno begged me to get rid of you."

"You really thought you would be missed? Everyone will sigh in relief with you gone."

"You don't deserve love Tommy. You never did."

"Tommy?"

"You deserve this torture."

"Tommy? Are you-"

"I'm doing the world a big favor."

"Theseus!" Two hands shook Tommy by the shoulders, pulling him out of his trance. The blonde looked up wide eyed, shocked to meet a familiar set of eyes. How did he get here? A wave of realization struck him as he realized he was curled up on the ground. Was he crying? "Theseus, are you okay?"

Tears again filled his eyes at the sound of Techno's voice. He didn't think Techno would ever speak to him again. Tommy nodded, "I-I'm okay."

Techno helped him up, confusion filling his features. "What are you doing here Tommy?" he asked, his concerned gaze hardening once again.

Tommy quickly grabbed the axe of peace, which had been laying on the ground where he apparently dropped it. Gripping it firmly, he held it up to Techno, who only looked back, puzzled. "I came to return the axe of peace." he began, taking a deep breath. "You were right about everything. I-I don't deserve it." He loosened his grip, his head hanging low in shame.

Techno gingerly took it, inspecting it for a moment before turning to Tommy. He spoke the question that had been burning his mind since Tommy had left him. "Why did you do it Theseus?"

Tommy gulped, knowing he should have expected this question. Keeping his eyes glued to the ground, he took a deep breath. Techno deserved to know. "Y-You sided with Dream. No matter how much I loved you, I couldn't ally myself with him. Not after everything he did."

Techno stiffened beside him. "What do you mean? What exactly happened?"

The blonde still refused to look at him, knowing Techno would probably be disappointed him in for being weak. And he knew he couldn't handle that kind of disappointment. "Exile... was horrible. He tormented me everyday. He would destroy everything I made... even if I didn't do anything wrong. It got so bad that I-" he paused, not wanting to continue, but he knew he had to. "I almost took my third life."

Techno's eyes were anger, matching their red tone. Tommy was prepared for Techno to kick him out. After all, he deserved it after what he did. But to his surprise, Techno pulled him into a bone crushing hug. Tommy didn't hesitate to melt into it, knowing that hugs were precious. "I had no idea Toms." he whispered, his voice breaking.

But I wasn't done. "But that wasn't even the worst thing." Techno held him tighter at that, listening to every word he said. "One day he got really mad and he-he." he swallowed, managing to gather enough strength, to continue. "He killed me."

"He what?!" Techno exclaimed, and I felt my shirt getting wet. Was Techno crying? "How did you come back?"

"He used his revival book... and then he killed me again. Over and over until he got bored." Tommy ended in a sob, burying his face in Techno's chest. He had never needed his big brother so much. And with Wilbur being gone...

Techno hushed him, beginning to whisper soft reassurances. He guided them both inside, laying them on the couch. Techno's grip didn't loosen, only growing more protective as he began to sway them both in the hopes of calming Tommy down. "I'm so sorry Toms." he murmured, pressing a brotherly kiss to the boy's head.

"I didn't want to betray you Techno!" Tommy exclaimed, the tears still falling. "I-I just couldn't relieve that."

"I understand Theseus." Techno reassured him. "I just wish you would have told me. I would have never allied with that monster in the first place."

"I'm sorry."

"It's alright. I'll protect you from him, alright? I'll never leave you." Techno vowed, meaning every word he said.

"Promise?" Tommy said wearily. He knew how easy a promise was to break. But somehow Techno's felt different. Like it was somehow unbreakable.

"I promise."

And the brothers were together again.
