Tommy POV

I ended up going to bed not long after Techno left. I just couldn't get any work done. It was like my body had finally realized how exhausted I truly was. I couldn't help but feel annoyed by my brother interrupting me. I had been so motivated before. Now I couldn't get any of it done without feeling like I was going to fall over. Seeing as there was nothing I could do, I went to bed.

Only a few hours later, I awoke to my alarm blaring in my ear. Reaching over to end my alarm, everything ached. It seemed that my sleepless nights had finally caught up to me. Contemplating whether or not to get up, I sighed. I knew I had no choice. I didn't want Phil to get suspicious. Swinging my legs over the side of the bed, I realized I accidently slept in my normal clothes. Was I really that tired?

My eyes drifted towards the pile of paper that lay untouched on my desk. I hadn't finished my friends' homework. I could feel my anxiety spike at the idea of breaking the news to them. But why should I be nervous? They were my friends after all. They would forgive me. I was sure of it.

A knock came from the door, urging me to get moving. So I did. Much like a zombie, I grabbed a new pair of clothes and headed to the shower. I had hoped it would make me wake up more. But it actually seemed to make me more tired. The water was just so warm and relaxing... before I knew it, I was almost falling over. I quickly turned the water temperature down and finished my shower as quick as I could.

By the time I made it downstairs, I was almost ten minutes late. I barely had enough time to get ready. But Phil insisted I eat breakfast, handing me a bowl of cereal without a word. I could feel his eyes studying me and I could only hope Techno snitched. He began to walk towards me, reaching his hand to feel my forehead.

"You feeling alright Tommy?" I glanced up at him, quickly concluding that Phil thought I was sick.

My eyes darted back to Techno, who was reading a book like always. "I'm fine." I mumbled, attempting to hold back a yawn.

"You look awful mate." Phil commented worriedly. Apparently I only amplified his worry.

I felt the urge to swear, to insult him back like I always did. But just the thought of using that much energy seemed daunting. Instead, I simply nodded and continued eating, slowly chewing my cereal.

Wilbur, who was now staring at him, quickly growing concerned. "Are you sure Toms?" His warm brown eyes searched every inch of my appearance, studying me like a page in Techno's book.

Again, I nodded, finding it much easier as opposed to using my voice. I hoped it was convincing enough, but an exchange of looks between Wil and Phil told me otherwise. Despite their worry, I still refused to admit that I had stayed up until four in the morning. I had no intention of getting grounded. So, I kept my mouth sealed, focusing on my breakfast.

Techno, who was clearly avoiding eye contact, suddenly stood up, declaring it was time to go. Closing his book, he headed towards his room with Wilbur trying to catch up. They conversed in the hallway with Techno dismissing the conversation with the wave of a hand.

A hand suddenly rested on my shoulder, causing me to jolt. "Are you sure you're okay?" It was Phil with his usual concerned glance.

I nodded, offering a smile. It didn't convince him, but it was enough for him to let me go. I finished my cereal before running to grab my stuff. I stopped in front of the mirror on top of my dresser, surprised by my reflection. No wonder they were so worried. Dark moons loomed under my eyes, making me look even worse than I felt. I literally looked dead.

"Come on Tommy!" my brother's voice stole me from my thoughts. Swinging my bag over my shoulder, bolting after my siblings. I barely managed to make it to the car before Techno roared the engine to life. We took off, heading towards school. There was an awkward silence in the air, like there was a line that talking crossed.

As soon as the car was parked, I went to leave the car, only to be stopped by Techno's voice. "Think about what I said Tommy, please." It was a simple request, but one that I still wasn't ready to accept.

"Whatever." I muttered, again ignoring that nagging voice. I began my walk towards the school, annoyed by Techno's insistent request. I knew my friends better than anyone. They would forgive me.

I was sure of it.
