I Don't Want To Be A Monster (Tommy and Techno)

Techno POV

Techno sighed, rolling to face the door at the sound of a knock. Who would be up right now? "Come in." he called, his eyes glued to the door.

The door creaked open, enveloping the room in light. A mop of blonde hair peeked in, bright blue eyes filled with tears. Techno's gaze softened and he sat up. The child tiptoed in, his lip quivering. "Techno?"

"Come here Toms." Techno cooed, opening his arms wide open. The blonde didn't hesitate to jump into his arms, immediately sobbing. The child clung to Techno tightly, seemingly afraid that he might leave. "Shhh, I got you." he whispered, holding the kid equally as tight. "What happened?"

Tommy looked up at him, sniffing, "I-I had a nightmare."

"What was it about Toms?" he asked softly, knowing that talking about it would help.

Tommy sighed, wiping his eyes. "E-Everyone was scared of me... I-I couldn't stop myself! I just got so angry... And then I hurt people! I-I couldn't stop..." he sobbed, burying his face in Techno's chest. "They called me a monster."

Techno listened, sadness shining in his eyes. He knew what had caused this. Earlier that day him and Tommy had visited the village for supplies. To any normal person, it would have been an easy task. The problem was, they weren't normal. They were both part piglin, having been abandoned in the nether at an early age.

Spending so much time in the nether had changed them both, them being forced to adapt to the new climate. Their once human ears morphed into piglin ears, making all of the languages of the nether easy to understand. Sharp teeth grew out of their mouths, mirroring piglins. Techno had been in the nether long enough for his brown eyes to change to red. Tommy, however, kept his bright blue eyes, much to Techno's amazement.

Techno had met Tommy in the nether. The poor kid had been struggling to survive, barely capable of picking mushrooms to eat. That particular day Tommy had been attacked by a large group of piglins, who showed no sign of showing any mercy towards the kid. Techno had spotted him and immediately stepped into save him. Whether it was his desire for revenge against the piglins or his thirst for gold, he didn't know. But as soon as he saw those bright blue eyes, he swore to protect him with his life.

But he couldn't protect him from the words of the villagers. The whispers that spread like wild fire. "Look at the freaks." "Since when were piglins allowed in the overworld?" "Look at the little monster!" "It's only a matter of time before they cause problems."

Tommy didn't say anything, only hiding himself more in Techno's cloak. Techno would growl at the villagers, holding Tommy closer to him. The villagers would scurry off, always intimidated by his red eyes. But he couldn't erase the words from Tommy's head, though he wished he could. He wished the kid didn't have to deal with those insults. Nightmares were the result of that.

Techno looked down at Tommy fondly, gently beginning to thread his fingers through Tommy's golden hair. "You're not a monster Toms. They're the monsters for saying stuff like that." 

Tommy hugged him tighter, sniffing. "But what if they're right? What if I hurt everyone? What if... What if I really am a monster?"

"Then that makes me a monster." Techno huffed, feeling Tommy stiffen.

Tommy pushed back, gasping, "You're not a monster! You're a legend! You're my big brother!"

Techno felt his heart melt, but he pushed the feeling aside. "We're one in the same Toms." he told him, staring into those bright blue eyes. The same bright blue eyes he had promised to protect. "So don't you listen to what some stupid villager gossips about, alright? Let me worry about that."

Tommy searched his eyes for something before finally nodding. He wrapped his arms around Techno once more, a smile finding its way onto his face. "Thank you Techie."

Again Techno awed, not sure how much more of this his heart could take. He hugged the boy back protectively, kissing his forehead. "Of course Toms. I'll always be here for you."

And he was. Through every panic attack and nightmare. Only one thing was consistent through all of it.

And that was Techno.
