The Best Day Ever (Tommy angst)(2/3)

Techno POV

Techno paled as the phone call abruptly ended. "Hello? Tommy?" Tommy hung up on him. He didn't even have the chance to say what he was supposed to say. Now, how would they get him here?

"Is he coming?" Wilbur shouted, carefully balancing on his ladder. He was in charge of the decorations, which was a mistake because the brunette had bought every balloon he could afford.

Phil had noticed Tommy had been more down lately, especially with all of them being gone most of the time. So he came up with a special plan to give Tommy the birthday he deserved. Wilbur and Techno were ecstatic about the idea, immediately joining in on the preparations it required. The tricky part was keeping it a secret.

Techno ran a hand through his hair, his heart beginning to pound. What if they hurt Tommy? "I... uh- I didn't get a chance to ask him."

"What do you mean?" Wilbur exclaimed, quickly climbing down from the ladder. "That was literally your only job!"

"He hung up on me." Techno stated plainly. He watched Wilbur's expression morph from annoyed to concerned. They hurt Tommy. The pinkette shook his head, guilt lacing into every word. "I think we may have taken the surprise part too far."

"He thinks we let him down..." Wilbur trailed off, lost deep in his thoughts. Both of them felt terrible, not knowing the extent of how far their words had cut. They should have approached the idea differently. They knew how down he was and they only made it worse. The brunette looked at the other, a newfound determination sparking in his eye. "We need to fix this."

Techno nodded, immediately agreeing. "Hopefully Phil won't be mad about us ruining the surprise part." 

"Well I'm not leaving our little brother to think he's all alone on his birthday. He deserves to have an amazing day and that's exactly what we're going to give him." Wilbur declared, heading towards the front door of the house.

Several other people were helping with setting everything up, including the owner of the house. That being, Dream. When he heard about their plans to surprise Tommy, he had immediately offered his house up. He and Tommy had grown closer since the brothers had left. Because Dream had chosen to study at the community college, he was always around. He had looked after the younger, being the older brother when Wilbur and Techno weren't around.

As soon as they reached the door, the blonde called out to them. "Where are you guys going? We're not even ready yet!" 

"We're going to get Tommy. There's been a change in plans." Wilbur explained, pushing the door open, only to stop at Dream's words.

"Is he okay?" Dream looked directly at the brunette, seemingly a million things running through his head. He would drop anything and everything to help Tommy.

"He's fine." Techno nodded, ignoring the glance from Wilbur. Techno pushed through the door, calling out to the remaining people. "We're going to get Tommy! We'll be back!"

Wilbur followed after him, quickening his pace. They had wasted enough time already.

Techno slid into the driver's seat, with Wilbur jumping into the passenger seat. 

The two brothers were determined, they were going to fix this.
