Tommy POV

Everything changed after that. Suddenly their dream was over, with very little hope of ever returning. Even the good days seemed to be bad. There were days that Techno couldn't get out of bed. Days where Tommy laid by his side with no desire to get up. And there days that felt normal. Days where Tommy forgot his brother was sick.

For the first few months, everything seemed to be going alright. There was still a lot of hope with the chemotherapy. But Tommy knew deep down it wasn't working. Techno never really seemed to regain his strength. He only seemed to grow weaker.Appointment after appointment and the reality slowly began to ink in.

The bad days seemed to become everyday. Techno could barely leave his bed, let alone do anything else. Techno's room became Tommy's. The younger hardly ever left his side, fear that something could happen while he was gone. He stayed there so often that the nurses had stopped waking him up after hours. They had stopped begging the boy to go home and rest. Just the broken look in his eyes was enough for them to stay silent.

Videos became an afterthought. But Tommy still managed to keep the channel active, using Techno' prerecorded videos for content. He never told anyone the truth about what was really happening. Not even Wilbur and Phil. To anyone on the outside, everything seemed fine. Techno wasn't sick. Techno wasn't dying. Tommy only wished he could have the same mentality.

Pacing outside of Techno's room, his thoughts ran a million miles a minute. That was how every checkup went. The doctor always made him leave the room, saying that it was by Techno's request. Tommy hated him for that. He hated the doctor for always sugarcoating everything. He hated the doctor for never having good news. But most all, he hated the doctor for not being able to save his brother.

Tommy looked up at the sound of the door opening. Instantly he was beside the man, not even bothering for words. The man glanced down at him, a look of pity shining over his eyes. Removing his glasses to clean them, he sighed. "Look kid-"

"Just tell me."

And for the first time ever, the doctor granted his request.

"Your brother is terminal."

Those words struck Tommy a lot harder than he expected. He ran out of the hospital room, not even bothering to look back. At the moment his brother needed him most, he left. He just couldn't deal with it. The thought that he would have to live his life without his brother by his side.

Tommy didn't care where he was going. As soon as the elevator doors opened, he just ran down the street. It was nearly two in the morning. The streets were deserted, clearly reflecting the time in the night. Tommy just kept running, thinking that maybe it was the answer to his problems. Maybe he could pretend this wasn't happening.

Maybe he could just stroll back home, always struggling to find the right key like always. He would stumble into their apartment. Throwing his backpack on his bed, he could hardly stop himself from rushing over to their computers. But he had to wait.

He had to wait for his brother who wouldn't be there.
