Last time, Mew and her friends are traveling on the ferry with their new friend, Janina to Cianwood City. Janina is going to get the special medicine for Jasmine's Ampharos, Sparkle. Mew and her friends are heading to the Cianwood Gym so Mew can compete for her next badge. Soon enough, they arrive at the Pharmacist to retrieve the medicine.
The Pharmacist hands over the medicine, "Thank you for waiting. Here's the medicine you ordered."
"Thank you very much, sir," Janina says, taking the medicine.
"Well, that's a big relief," Misty says.
"And now Sparkle Ampharos can get better," Molly happily says.
"You'd better bring it back to Jasmine right away," Brock says.
The Pharmacist then says, "If you leave now, you can catch the express ferry. That goes straight to Olivine City. It'll have you there before nightfall."
"Have a safe trip, Janina," Misty says.
Togepi chirps while Sparkle the Pokachu gives her regards.
"Give my love to Jasmine," Brock says.
"We'll head back to Olivine City as soon as I win my badge here," Mew says.
"Okay, good luck to you, Mew," Janina says.
"Good luck to you, too," Mew says.
"Pika Pikachu," (Good luck, Janina.) Pikachu says.
"Eevee Eevee," (We'll see you again soon.) Eevee says.
Later the express ferry drives off to the sea as Mew and her friends wave goodbye to Janina.
"Alright, let's go find that gym," Mew says.
"Eevee," (Battle the Gym Leader!) Eevee says.
And Pikachu says, "Pika Pika!" (And win that badge!)
Suddenly, they begin to hear grunting noises that catch their attention. They turn to their left to see a man wearing white pants and a black belt, training alongside his Machoke in an intense sparring match. The man also has slightly spiky brown hair. Mew and the others watch to see the match between them.
The man says, "You defended yourself well, Machoke. Now let's try switching to offense!"
Machoke agrees and goes on the offensive as the gang watches.
"Come on! Is that all you got?" The man says.
"Wow. that man and his Machoke are really going at it," Tomo says.
"I wonder who they are," Jen says.
Soon, the Machoke strikes its trainer with a Karate Chop.
"That was a nice Karate Chop. Alright, now let's see you try a Submission attack!" The man says.
"Machoke, ma!" (Sure thing, man!) The Machoke says.
Machoke proceeds to have its trainer's head between its ankles, almost like it was setting up for a hurricanrana, before amazing the making both it and its trainer roll forward like a wheel or tank tread before tossing the man, prompting the gang to check on him.
"That was perfect!" The man says.
Suddenly, Pikachu calls out, "Pika Pika!" (Hey there, mister!)
"Are you okay, sir?" Mew asks.
"Eevee Eevee," (That must have really hurt.) EEvee says.
"What are you thinking, battling against a Machoke like that?" Misty asks.
