It's a nice day for Mew and her friends. They continue on their journey to Blackthorn City so Mew can earn her next badge. Right now, she and her friends are in town, looking for the Pokemon Center.
"Let me see. It looks like we're close," Brock says.
Soon, Tomo says, "Hey!"
"Look! There it is!" Misty says.
"The Pokémon Center," Jen says.
"I see it!" Molly says.
"Let's go check in," Mew says.
However, they notice something ahead.
A trainer calls out, "Keep it up, Poliwrath!
Another trainer calls out, "Hitmontop, hang in there!"
The group of friends look and see a bunch of people gathered and cheering what sounds like two trainers in a battle
"Hey, look at that!" Brock says.
"Sounds like lots of fun!" Misy says.
"Sounds like they're having a Pokemon Battle," Mew says.
"Let's check it out," Tomo says.
With that, Mew and her friends investigate to see the battle taking place.
One trainer calls out, "Hitmontop, Triple Kick, now!
Hitmontop closes in with the attack while spinning.
Another trainer calls out, "Dodge it, Poliwrath!"
Poliwrath does so
Then Poliwrath's trainer calls out, "Now, Poliwrath, Double Slap!"
The attack lands.
"Poliwrath and Hitmontop, huh?" Mew says.
"Well, I'm certain that Poliwrath will win, hands down!" Misty says.
"Well, that's no surprise," Mew says.
"We know you'll always take the side of water Pokémon, Misty," Brock says.
Then Poliwrath's trainer calls out, "Poliwrath, Submission, go!"
Poliwrath charges in and rolls Hitmontop around.
Hitmontop's trainer calls out, "Hang in there, Hitmontop!"
However, Hitmontop is thrown clear before landing.
The trainer cries out, "Oh, no!"
"Sorry, Mason," Poliwrath's trainer says.
"Wow! That was an amazing move!
"But, I thought only fighting Pokémon use Submission," Jen says.
"True, but Poliwrath acquired Submission attack when it evolved from a Poliwhirl," Misty says.
"It's true. When Poliwhirl evolves to Poliwrath, it also becomes a Fighting Type," Mew says
One of the crowd calls out, "Poliwrath has seven straight wins!"
"Poliwrath rules!" Another person cheers.
Poliwrath's trainer calls out, "Come on! Anyone else out there want to take a shot at beating my Poliwrath?!"
Soon, Misty steps into the field, "I'll go first."
"Really? You seem eager?" Mew says.
"Well, since it's a Poliwrath, it's only fair that I get to challenge him," Misty says.
"Make sense, I guess," Mew says. "Good luck, Misty."
"Thanks," Misty says.
Soon, both combatants are ready.
