Mew and her friends are at the Pokemon Center, preparing for her next gym battle against Morty, the Gym Leader specializing in Ghost Type Pokemon. After yesterday's fiasco, Morty proves to be a strong trainer, and Mew will be facing an unbeatable adversary..

She holds her Pokedex and Dexter says Gengar, the Shadow Pokémon. The evolved form of Haunter. A Ghost and Poison Type. Details about Gengar are unknown."

"That doesn't help very much," Misty says.

And Brock says, "But at least you know that Morty's gonna use ghost Pokémon against you both. And that gives you both a chance to plan your strategy."

"You're right, but Morty is going to be one opponent to beat," Mew says.

Soon, Nurse Joy comes in with her Pokemon, "Good news, Mew. All your Pokémon are in excellent condition."

Pikachu and Eevee jump on to Mew's shoulders

"Great! Thanks a lot, Nurse Joy," Mew says.

Then Nurse Joy notices, "You seem tense."

"Yeah, I've had lots of gym battles before, but never against any ghost Pokémon. And I'm not exactly sure what to do," Misty says.

And Misty says, "The gym leader has a Gengar that's really powerful."

"Most of the trainers who challenge him do have a difficult time against his ghost Pokémon, but you've got a Noctowl. That's your secret weapon," Nurse Joy says.

"Secret weapon?" Mew questions, and remembers Noctowl's attack that can reveal Gastly's illusion.

And Brock says, "I think Nurse Joy's right, Mew. Noctowl might be the key to winning your next gym badge."

Mew brings out her Pokeball, "I hope so, Brock. I hope so."

Later, at the gym, Gengar is facing down multiple Gastly.

Morty calls out, "Gengar, use Confuse Ray!"

Gengar does so, hitting all the Gastly at once and amazing all the students.

Morty turns to the students, "Ghost Pokemon may not have the pure physical strength of some other Pokémon types, but by using their abilities wisely, the opponents become confused and fearful, and that can be a much more powerful and useful weapon than brute force. For example, that last Confuse Ray could..."

But soon, someone calls out, "Uh, excuse me, sir. A trainer has arrived to challenge you."

Morty turns to see the employee with Mew and her friends.

"Good morning, Morty," Mew says with a smile.

"Hello, Mew I've been expecting you," Morty says.

"Great," Mew says.

"We could come back," Misty says.

And Brock says, "Maybe, we're interrupting something." as the Gastly gather behind Morty.

"Oh, I was just lecturing my students about the ghost Pokémon. Teaching's another part of a gym leader's job," Morty says, then turns to the Gastly, "Thanks for helping out, guys. I think that's all for now."

The Gastly disappear.

Then Morty turns to Gastly, "Gengar, you should take a little break, too." and calls it back to it Pokeball.

Morty says, "Class, this is Mew from Pallet Town and they'll each be challenging our gym today. I'd like to allow them to observe our battles, Mew."

The student bow and asks, "Please, Ms. Mew."
