Chapter 78: A Day at the Pool

"Ah, this was a great idea, Hagekure!" You say.

All of the girls have arrived at the pool, and you've all changed into your school swimsuits.

"I'm full of them!" She laughs.

"I have drinks for everyone!" You all turn to look at Yaoyorozu's coolers that she brought, and they're chock full of everyone's favourite drinks.

"Woah!! Yaomomo, you went overboard!" Mina says.

"There's so much...!" Uraraka is shocked once more at the casual difference in familial income.

"Thank you, Yaomomo!" You smile. "You're the best!!" You give her a hug and she seems embarrassed.

"It's nothing! It's important for us to stay hydrated, especially with the sun shining as hot as it is today. Did everyone put on sunscreen?"

You nod before turning to Hagekure. "Wait do you even need to wear it?"

She seemingly shrugs and says, "I dunno, I've always put it on though."

You laugh at her answer. "Man, it must have been difficult for your parents when you were a kid!"

The other girls laugh as well.

"Let's get in already!" Mina cheers.

"Hey, don't push!" Jirou tells her.

"Sorryyy! Who has the volleyball?"

"I have it." Tsuyu says, and she hits it to Mina.

"I'm diving in before anything!" You say. "Tsu, you joining me?"

She nods and the two of you step on to the diving blocks. Mina excitedly counts the two of you down, and when she yells "Go!!!" the two of you dive in.

You make contact with the water and feel your worries melt off of you as the water surrounds you. Compared to the heat of the sun, the water is paradise.

Before coming up, you see Tsuyu next to you, and you smile and wave at her. She smiles back, and the two of you enjoy being underwater for a few moments.

Finally needing some air, you come up. Tsuyu follows you, and the two of you push your hair out of your faces.

"Ahh, that feels amazing...!" You say.

"It's always nice being in the water." Tsuyu agrees with you.

The other girls jump in the water with you, and you begin playing volleyball.

Not long after, the boys begin trickling in.

"I didn't know you guys were coming, too." Jirou says.

"Yeah, Midoriya texted us about doing some endurance training." Sero says.

"Endurance training in the water, huh? I can make that even more tough!" You laugh and begin moving the water around.

"No way! Swimming is enough!" He laughs.

"Boo, you're no fun, Sero!" You tease. "You don't wanna swim against a current?"

"Not all of us are fish like you and Tsuyu!" He laughs.

"Hey now, Tsu's a frog! She's a million times cuter than a fish!"

"But you're still a fish, huh?"

"Hey! No, I'm Hydra thank you!" You laugh, referring to your hero name.

"I can see the resemblance, with that crazy water hair of yours!" He laughs at you, commenting on the state your soaked hair is in.

"Here, I'll give you a matching look!" You raise the water over him and drag him into the pool with the wave.

The girls and guys laugh alike as Sero swims up to the surface.

"Hey!!" He pushed his soaked hair out of his face. "That was rude!"

You join in the laughter, but can't help but notice Sero still looks great with his hair wet. It reminds you of when you ran into him coming into school during the storm. He looked great then, too.

"Y/n, are you coming back to play more or what?" Mina throws the ball at the back of your head.

"Ouch!" Snapping back to reality, you grab the ball from the water and get ready to throw it back at her. "I'll get you for that, Mina!" You spray her with the water, and you all begin playing volleyball again.

As you play, the boys begin swimming and training. After a while, you hear the oh so totally gentle and sweet voice of Bakugou cursing at Midoriya.

"I didn't think Bakugou would come to hang out with everyone." Hagekure says.

"Yeah, I'm surprised too." Jirou says. "He probably just came to challenge Midoriya."

Sure enough, that's what he begins doing. Kirishima quickly blocks him and begins talking to Midoriya.

"Hey, I got your message! Sorry I'm late! It took a while to convince Bakugou to come out."

"That's not surprising," Tsuyu says to you.

You nod and Bakugou continues yelling where he left off. "So Deku, you wanna settle who's the best between us right now? Huh?!"

"No...! That's not it...!" Midoriya stammers.

"That's actually not a bad idea, Bakugou." Iida interjects. "We could make this training a contest."

"A contest?" Midoriya asks.

"Hey, everyone! I propose we see which of the boys can swim 50 meters the fastest! A friendly race!" Iida continues.

This grabs your attention. "We could destroy them." You nudge Tsuyu's arm and she chuckles.

The boys begin agreeing, with Kaminari and Sero being extra excited. "That sounds like fun!"

"Let's do it!" Sato agrees.

You stay in the pool with Tsuyu as the other girls get out of the pool to grab drinks, and Yaoyorozu walks up to Iida.

"Let us help!"

"Yes, please!"

"And quirks? Can we use them?" Ojiro asks Iida.

"Ha, even without my quirk, I bet I could beat any of you boys in a swimming race!" You taunt them, leaning against the edge of the pool closest to the boys.

"That's because you're part fish, Y/n." Sero teases you.

"Quit calling me a fish!" You spray water at him. "That's so not cute or cool!"

He laughs at your response and wipes the water from his face, but Iida speaks before he can say anything back.

"We're at school, so there shouldn't be a problem with us using our quirks."

"Half of you can't even use your quirks in the water though, right?" You say.

Bakugou seems happy with Iida's answer, and he ignores Iida's pointed look at him as he continues.

"However, there cannot be any damage to our classmates or the school!"

"I'm going to annihilate you, Deku! And you too Icy Hot, you bastard!!"

"Oh please, you're challenging the wrong people! I could beat you in a heartbeat, Bakugou!" You laugh.

He turns to you. "As if!! I'll blow you out of the water!!"

"You'll do no such thing!" Iida says. "No harming our classmates, Bakugou!"

You laugh and turn back to Bakugou. "As if you could blow me out of the water! I can control it! Tell you what, you boys do your cute little race, and I'll show the winners how you really win!"

He rolls his eyes at you, but gets a dangerous look on his face and smirks. "You're going to regret suggesting that!"
