By the time you wake up, Tokoyami isn't in the room with you anymore. Sitting up from your side on the couch in his room, you groan and rub your head. “What time is it...? How long was I asleep for...?” You mumble to yourself. “Where's Tokoyami...?” It's strangely quiet and dark in the room. Not even the air conditioning is on. “Did the power go out...?” Your legs feel like they're full of lead as you try to stand up from the couch. The corner of the table catches the side of your calf in the darkness, but you stumble past it to the light switch. It flicks up and down under your finger, but nothing happens, so you try the door handle. It turns, but the mechanism inside remains stationary, locking you inside. The typically shining handles look rather dull with the lack of light in the room.

“That's weird...” Your brows furrow as you continue to try to open the door. Maybe both hands will work? Unfortunately, they don't. Fiddling with it doesn't do anything. Grabbing the handle and violently shaking the door certainly doesn't do anything either. As the panic starts to settle in, you kneel down on the ground to peer under the door. Nothing. Absolute darkness. “It's just a power outage. That's all. I'm sure Tokoyami and Hawks are off dealing with it now, and that's why I'm all alone in here. Tokoyami probably left without waking me up because it was such a waste of time. That's all.” You reassure yourself. “If something serious had happened, I would have woken up. There'd be fighting, and sirens, and shouting. Obviously it's no big deal...”

While you mumble to yourself, you stand up and stumble through the darkness to the window. Each step across the floor feels like you're wading through water, as though the darkness itself has been liquified around your legs and body. Time seems to drag on slowly as you gradually get closer and closer to the window across the room from the door. The curtains are shut tightly, and they perfectly cover the window.

“I don't remember the curtains being black out...” You murmur as you reach up to grab one. The fabric feels much softer than you expected, and you pull them aside. “What on Earth...?” As you peer out the window, you're met with nothing but darkness. Just like under the door, there's nothing. No cityscape, no lights, no stars, no moon. Just pure darkness and silence. Glancing down, you reach for the lock on the window. It clicks open, and you grab on to the edge of the window to pull it up. As hard as you pull, nothing happens. It doesn't budge even a fraction of an inch. It's as though the window was never meant to open in the first place.

“Come on... Why won't you open...??” You grit your teeth as you tug harder, this time with both hands. It's not enough, so you prop your foot against the side of Tokoyami's bed frame and pull with all of your might. Nothing happens. Even switching your grip and fiddling with the lock does nothing. No matter what you do, the window refuses to even let out a tiny creak or groan under your strength.

It remains impassive to your struggles, and doubts swirl around in your head. Is it possible the agency is under attack again? It would explain why you're trapped in darkness. Spinning on your heel, you examine Tokoyami's room. It looks normal. Just dark. His costume case is on the ground at the end of his bed, and both of your workbooks are scattered on the table. The only sound you can hear is the rushing of your heartbeat in your ears, and the shallow breaths you're taking.

“Gotta get out... Gotta get out...” You mumble, forcing yourself back across the room to the door. Just like before, time seems to stretch on with each step, but you eventually reach it. The handle is still twisting endlessly within your grasp, and the door doesn't even budge as you tug and push at it. “Come on, just open...!” The space between the door and latch plate is tiny, and the latch is facing the wrong way for you to try to force it in, much to your dismay.

Then, something flickers on the other side of the door, barely visible to your eyes through the crack. Dropping to your knees, you press your face against the floor, desperately trying to see if someone's there. It's hard to see, but it's unmistakable. Those are black boots a few meters away on the other side. “Tokoyami?? Hawks?? Anyone?? Hey! I'm stuck in here! Can you get the door open?” You shout as you rap on the bottom of the door. The boots pause, and whoever it is turns towards the sound of your voice behind the door. They slowly stride forward, and each step hits the floor with purpose and a casual confidence.

“Hawks, is that you? Maybe a sidekick? Hey, can you open the door? I'm starting to get a bit claustrophobic in here.” You say. The boots come to a stop in front of Tokoyami's door, and after a few seconds, the doorknob begins to turn. You're off of the floor in record time and anxiously tap your foot as you wait in agony for them to hurry up. “Hey, why aren't you saying anything...?”

The door swings open, and there's a bright flash of light and heat as it does. Blue fills your vision, and a tall menacing figure you know all too well stands before it. “Why hello again, princess.”

“No, no, no... This can't be happening...!” You panic, backing up further into Tokoyami's room. Frost slowly grows across your skin, encompassing you in a chilly layer. “How did you... What did you... Where are Tokoyami and Hawks?! What did you do to them?! Why is everything so blacked out??” As you stumble back, you glance around the room, trying to figure out how to get away. Fighting him hardly even crosses your mind after how poorly things went the first time you tried to fight him. He'd have you burned alive before you even managed to generate enough water thanks to the scarring he gave you.

“You really are an annoying hero wannabe like the rest, huh...? Always worrying about others before yourself... Relax. You don't need to worry about them. They're already out of the picture. No one is going to interrupt us.”

“W-What...? What did you do to them?!” You gasp as flames lick his fingers.

“You're about to find out, sweetheart.”
