181: Wild Hawks Simp

“Get her!!”

“Gah!! She's too fast!” You groan as the villain you're chasing easily evades your grip. “Tsukuyomi, get Dark Shadow to grab her!”

“She's too fast!” Tokoyami shouts back. Hawks sent you and Tokoyami on patrol with one of his sidekicks today when he was summoned by the HPSC, and of course an agile villain just had to start causing chaos downtown. She's not doing anything evil, just causing enough trouble to warrant being arrested. Unfortunately, what would be an easy catch for Hawks is not quite as easy for you and Tokoyami.

“I put all this effort into getting as fast as possible to catch Hawks' attention, and I get his slow students instead? What a bummer.” The woman sighs, flying through the air as though she's laying on her back with her arms folded behind her head. One of her legs is resting over the other, and she pokes Dark Shadow on the forehead as she whizzes by.

“Damn it!” Tokoyami curses and looks over his shoulder from the rooftop you dropped him off on. The woman chuckles and gives him a little wave, and you rush to try to capture her again. Just as you almost reach her, she suddenly drops a few meters, avoiding you once more.

“Sorry, kiddies, you're just too slow.” She shrugs as you groan in frustration.

“If you wanted to catch Hawks’ attention, you shouldn’t be causing trouble! He’s a hero! He’s not into criminals or villains!” You shout as you drop after her.

“Not everyone has the liberty of using their quirk as they please in public, girlie. Unless you have a fancy little hero license, you get the cops called.” The woman yawns as she evades your attempts to grab her.

“So getting arrested is worth him noticing you??” Tokoyami grunts in frustration as he sends Dark Shadow your way to help.

“Well, the plan was to run a few laps around him and show him I’m the only woman who can keep up with him, and then leave him in the dust… But I’ll play with you two for a bit, so you can tell him all about the woman who was too fast for you to catch. Then he’ll have to come look for me…!” She fawns.

“You have issues, lady.” You say, launching a cold blast of water at her. She laughs at your comment, and shakes her head. “Just go to a fan meet and greet like a normal person. You’re going to cause an accident if you keep speeding around downtown like this!”

“Relax, you kids don’t know how to have any fun.” She buzzes past you, flicking your helmet as she does. “Y’know, boys like girls who can have fun. If you’re so focused on being the perfect little hero, you’ll never find a boyfriend, girlie.”

Before you can defend yourself, Tokoyami scoffs. “You’re one to talk. You don’t have one. You’re a grown woman causing mayhem in order to attract the attention of a man who hardly even has time for himself, let alone a relationship.”

“Hey…!” The woman looks irked by Tokoyami’s comment. He seems to have struck a nerve by pointing out the obvious. “I’m single by choice!”

"Doesn’t seem like it to me…” You grunt, flying at her. The hem of her jacket skims your leg as she passes, and you manage to snatch a hold of it at the last second. “Gotcha…!” As soon as your fingers wrap around the fabric, water soaks the fabric, quickly freezing over.

“You little…!” She breaks free of your grip with a kick to your arm, but not before her arm freezes in place.

“Just give it up already! We’re going to catch you sooner or later!” You shout at her. “And the longer your arm stays frozen, the more likely you are to get frostbite!” As you chase after her, Tokoyami and Dark Shadow keep her from slipping away. You can’t seem to figure out why, but she won’t go any further up. She’s always within ten meters of the rooftop you’re fighting above.
