A sigh escapes you as you head back to your dorms. Classes are finally done for the day, but you don't get to crash yet. Originally, you planned on asking Todoroki to train with you in an attempt to get over your new fear, but it became clear to you during training that his fire wasn't nearly as terrifying as it was during your licensing exam. It was just fire like it was before Dabi. When you had caught glimpses of the raging inferno blazing in the fire zone, though... You caught yourself frosting over a few times.
It didn't take much to convince Aizawa to agree to give you permission to go into the fire zone outside of class hours for some classic exposure therapy. His two conditions: Monoma has to agree to go in with you to provide water so you don't accidentally overuse your quirk, and Thirteen has to be there to supervise just in case. You were about to mention inviting Monoma when Aizawa brought him up, so it wasn't an issue for you. If anything, the issue will be with Monoma. Convincing him to help you may be easier said than done.
When your classmates turn to head inside your dormitory, you give them a wave and continue down to Class B's building. A few of them are visible through the windows in the common room, and your feet feel heavy from the day's class as you trudge up the steps. Kendo spots you through the glass before you've even reached the door, and she tugs it open for you with a smile.
"Y/n! Hey, how are you? What brings you over here?" She asks, inviting you inside. Tetsutetsu, Awase, and Tsuburaba are also nearby, and they come over to greet you as well.
"I'm doing well! You?" You smile at Kendo.
"Yo! Y/n! Great job with Hawks! We keep seeing you in the news nonstop!" Tetsutetsu grins, giving you a smack on the back.
"Thanks!!"
Kendo holds up a bandaged wrist. "I'd be a lot better if I didn't sprain my wrist in class today, but I'm gonna run over to Recovery Girl's office in a minute to get her to heal it for me, so I'll be fine. Wasn't going to, but the guys convinced me. So, what can we do for you?"
"I'm actually here looking for Monoma. Is he here?" You ask, glancing around the common room. If he is, he must be somewhere else in the dorm. The boys share a glance with each other before giving you a skeptical look.
"...Why?" Tsubaraba asks, almost offended by your judgement.
"Did he do something again? Insult you guys? Man, that guy never knows when to quit..." Awase sighs. "Want us to talk to him for you, Y/n?"
"No, no! Nothing like that! He didn't do anything—at least, not that I know of... I just need to know if he's free tomorrow after class," you explain.
"What?!" Awase and Tsubaraba look offended by your answer. "Why?? You're not planning on asking him ou—"
Kendo interrupts them, pushing them away. "Monoma should be free, you planning on snagging him for some training?"
"Yeah," you nod to Kendo, and the boys let out a sigh of relief. "Ever since our training camp, I've been really jumpy around fire. It's becoming a bit of a problem, so I was hoping he'd go to USJ with me. If he copies my quirk, I can have him generate water, and I don't have to worry about hurting my hands from doing it myself."
"Oh, in the fire zone? Smart! I've started doing some training in there, too!" Tetsutetsu says. "I've been trying to strengthen my quirk after that fight Kendo and I had during camp. That little kid totally shot through my defenses!"
"I think he said he was showering right now, but don't worry, Y/n, I'll make sure he goes." Kendo assures you. The four of you talk for a few more minutes, and your exhaustion quickly calls you back to your dorm for the night.
The next morning during class, you crowd Kirishima's desk with Kaminari and Sero. He's wiped and out of it, but the three of you are as loud as ever.
"Kirishima, you jerk!!" Kaminari shouts. "Your name!! Your hero name's in the news!!"
"Congrats, Kiri!! Great job! I heard you fought a guy using a quirk booster like Fumikage and I! How was it? Was he tough?" You ask, leaning over his desk. "I saw the photos!! You look totally manly!
"Huh? Oh, yeah, for a minute there he was. I had to use my special move," Kirishima says with a wide toothy grin at your compliment. "I was lucky I managed to hold it long enough. He almost got away, but Fat caught him in no time. I'm just glad none of the civilians got hurt."
"There were a bunch of them nearby, too, right? Talk about a cool debut..." Sero sighs, a hint of jealousy in his voice. "I hope mine's as flashy."
"Me too! You work study kids are getting way ahead of the rest of us!" Kaminari says. Bakugou looks ready to tear someone's head off as he eavesdrops, grumbling at his desk.
"Tsuyu and Uraraka are in the news, too! This is too cool!!" Mina cheers, holding up her phone.
"For real? Cool...!" Jiro checks her phone, and Momo reads the article with her over her shoulder.
"Heh, pretty exciting I guess...!" Uraraka smiles, and Tsuyu takes Mina's phone to stare at it.
"Where'd they get that photo from...?" She asks almost uncomfortably.
You lean over her shoulder and wrap your arms around her in a hug. "Too cute!! You guys look way cuter than I did for my debut! You're all posed and everything!" Tsuyu places a hand on your forearm as you squeeze her and chuckles as you tug Uraraka into the hug as well.
"I love it! Bet you've already got hordes of fans, just like Mt. Lady!!" Mina grins as Toru joins your hug.
"I'm jealous! I'll never have a flashy debut! I want cute photos!" Toru laughs.
Iida nods, offering your classmates congratulations as well. "Provisional licenses or not, we are now heroes when we step on to those mean streets... Wonderful job, all three of you...! But!! A student's primary concern is academics!! No slacking off now!!"
"Gotcha, Iida! We're ready to learn and all that!!" Kirishima seems to forget his exhaustion, and his go-getter attitude is back in action.
"Yeah!" Midoriya agrees next to him.
"Why'd he look right at Midoriya and Kirishima when he said that?" Toru giggles as you continue to hold her, Tsuyu, and Uraraka.
"Because obviously us girls don't need any reminders!" You laugh back, squeezing them. "Say, Tsuyu, Uraraka? You gonna come save me next? Be my knights in shining armor?"
Uraraka laughs, shifting to sling an arm around your shoulders. "I'll be whatever you want me to be, Y/n..." She teasingly flirts, and you laugh. Uraraka gives Sero a cocky grin as she catches him staring at you, and he snickers, rolling his eyes as he turns back to Kirishima and the boys.
"Yeah, but you suck at school. You gonna be okay?" Kaminari asks Kirishima.
"So do you!" Mina laughs.
"Look who's talking!" Kaminari shoots back.
"Aizawa's gonna be giving me some extra lessons." Kirishima explains, chuckling at Kaminari and Mina sticking their tongues out at each other.
"Maybe I should join you... Keeping up with everything is tough..." Sero sighs.
"Everyone learns at their own pace," Momo says, trying to settle Kaminari and Mina, and you nod.
"Even Fumikage and I have gotten help from Hawks with our work. You guys will be fine," You smile.
"Yaomomo, Y/n! You two always know exactly what to say to cheer me up!" Kaminari beams, and soon it's time for class.
