Back in homeroom, class is starting. “Alright... We're back to our regular classes. A lot's happened, too much, really, but now it's business as usual. Today in class we'll just have a lecture, but look forward to some even harsher training throughout this second semester.” As Aizawa speaks, a shadow suddenly blocks the window. Everyone turns to look, and staring in at you is none other than Hawks. He suddenly drops from view, and you notice Aizawa glaring where he just was from the front of the class.

“Hey!!” Hawks flies back up and knocks on the glass. Everyone laughs, and Toru opens the window excitedly for him after an irritated nod from Aizawa.

“What do you want, Hawks?” Aizawa asks as Hawks leans his elbows on the open window.

“Thought they told you last night?” He says. He gives you and Tokoyami waves. “I'm here to take Y/n on a work study.” He says with a cheeky grin.

“Huh?!!!” Your entire class gapes and breaks out into confused chatter.

Aizawa looks even more agitated now. “I was not informed that it would start not even ten minutes into her first class of the semester. You can go speak to the principal about that.”

“Can I-” Hawks starts gesturing to come in through the window.

“No. Hagakure, close the window.”

Toru reluctantly closes the window on Hawks with a wave, and he flies off unbothered. Tokoyami looks just as unamused as Aizawa, and Mina turns to talk to you two. “Are you seriously doing a work placement with him?? And is he always like that, Tokoyami?”

“More or less... Yes, unfortunately.” Tokoyami sighs.

“Tokoyami. Y/n. Tell Hawks not to interrupt my class again. Now, moving on...” Aizawa grumbles.

Tsuyu raises her hand. “May I ask a question, sir?”

Aizawa nods. “Go ahead.”

“What exactly is a work placement? They were talking about it at the opening ceremony this morning, too. Could you explain that a bit more, please?”

“Yeah, the principal was talking about it.” Sero says, and Tokoyami nods.

“I'm actually curious as well. Y/n, how did Hawks get permission for you so quickly?”

“Uh...” You think back to what Aizawa told you the night before. “I only found out last night thanks to the boys fighting, so I don't really know the details about anything...”

“The principal mentioned that several of our upperclassmen are engaged in work studies.” Momo raises her hand.

“I was planning on going over that later when Midoriya and Bakugou are back, but due to that interruption... I suppose it makes more sense to explain it now. Put simply, it's hero work outside of school. A more immersive version of the internships you already did with pro heroes.”

“And Y/n’s already been scouted?? It hasn't even been a full 24 hours since we got our licenses!” Kaminari says in disbelief.

“By Hawks, too!” Toru agrees.

“That's super cool, Y/n! Great job!” Kirishima congratulates you.

“Yes, Hawks was a bit enthusiastic to get Y/n to work with him and managed to pull a few strings using his position.” Aizawa sighs in irritation. “Couldn't even wait an hour after she passed to start harassing me and the principal...”

“Woah, really?!”

“That sounds just like him...” Tokoyami groans. “Good luck, Y/n.”

“Thanks, Toko–”

“Bzt! Eraserhead, please send Izumi Y/n to the principal’s office. Thank you!” The security system requests over a speaker.

Aizawa looks like he's ready to go back to bed and sighs. “Y/n, bring your things with you. I doubt you're coming back.”

“Right...” You quickly pack up your items and leave the classroom. That was quick...

“Yo, Penguin!” Hawks greets you as you enter the office. He's lounging on his chair across from Nezu, totally at home. “Long time no see. Congrats on getting your provisional license!”

“Thank you!” You smile. Nezu invites you to sit down.

“So, Aizawa told me he briefed you about what's happening last night after the fight.” The principal says.

“The fight?” Hawks raises an eyebrow.

“Two of my classmates got in a brawl late last night, and I was there with them...” You tell him, and he laughs.

“Yes, and before we continue, I want to ask once more. Is this really necessary?” Nezu asks Hawks. “I don't feel comfortable letting my first year students do work placements, let alone what the Hero Commission has in store for her.”

Hawks' gaze becomes more serious and he straightens up. “Unfortunately, they're adamant. You don't have to worry, though. I'll be with her the entire time and won't let a thing happen to her.”

“I suppose it being you is the silver lining.” Nezu sighs. He and Hawks explain more of the details to you, and Aizawa eventually joins after homeroom finishes.

“So how long is she going to be gone for?” Aizawa asks Hawks.

“She'll be back in three days. That should be enough for the basics. Then we'll make a schedule based on that.” Hawks says.

“Three days?” You ask. “What about my classes?”

“I'll have Iida send you your classwork and notes.” Aizawa says. “I expect you to be caught up when you're back.”

“Yes sir!”

After talking for a bit longer, you're excused to get your hands healed by Recovery Girl since you forgot to last night, and then you go to the dorms to pack a bag. Hawks is waiting for you on one of the common room couches when you come down, lounging once more like he's at home. He's opened a bag of chips from the kitchen, and is loudly chewing on them. “You ready to go?”

“Uh... Yes...” It's hard to believe right now that the man in front of you is the number two hero and is in charge of turning you into a secret agent or something. “Those are Tokoyami's...”

“He’ll forgive me, let's go!” He jumps up from the couch, and he continues munching on the chips as you exit the building. You carry your bag and case, and the two of you walk to the waiting car. “Sorry, not flying Air Hawks again today, unfortunately, Penguin. Gotta travel the boring way.” He uses his feathers to take your bags and put them in the trunk of the car and hops down in the passenger seat. You sit down in the back, and the driver heads out.

“We're not driving all the way back to Kyushu, are we?” You ask, and you discreetly text Tokoyami a warning about his chips. At the same time, you text Shinso what's happening.

Hawks shakes his head. “We're going to catch a plane over. It'll save us some time.”

The driver drops the two of you off at an airport, and you board a plane to Kyushu. Navigating the airport is tough thanks to all of the attention Hawks is getting. More than once, you get separated in the crowd, and he has to fetch you. The flight isn't very long, and the same thing happens when you land.

“This will take some getting used to...”
