Chapter 53: First Night at the Station

As the elevator begins ascending, Firetamer turns to you.

"Tomorrow's schedule is a bit busy, but so is every day here. You'll get used to it by the end of the week. Breakfast is at five, and then you'll be joining me for my run and workout at six in the gym. After that, we'll meet with the rest of the morning crew for briefings at eight. Then, Kai will show you some of the paperwork we heroes have to fill out while I'm out for brunch with my dear Dia."

"Oh, you have a date!" You smile.

"Yes I do! We're watching a movie tonight, too, so how do I look?"

You smile and give her a thumbs up. Her short dark hair is ruffled, yet always seems to look good.

"Perfect!" She runs a hand through her hair. "And what after that... Let's see... I should be back around noon, so once I'm back you and I will go on patrol. Unless there's an emergency. Fortunately, one of my sidekicks will be taking over most of the emergency fire responses while I have you here at the station. Her name is Sierra, you'll meet her at the briefing. Once Kai's done with you, she'll help you with some combat training until I'm back. Oh, she'll also make sure you can move around better in your uniform."

"Wow... All that before lunch?"

"Oh, of course you'll be fed before we go on patrol. Thankfully, with Jeanist and I here we're able to take care of most things. He handles more villains than I do, and I handle more rescues really. We get along well, aside from clothes."

"What do you mean by clothes?" You ask.

"Jeanist tends to like everyone in his company to look well kempt and proper. Lots of people love his fashion because of that. Us in the crew here don't really dress up often. If at all."

"Oh, I have a friend interning with him right now! It's hard to imagine him dressed up, though."

"And who is that?"

"His name is Bakugou, he was-"

"The energetic blond! Yes! I like his spirit! Too bad his quirk is the opposite of fire prevention! He did well in the sports festival."

"He did! It was nuts going against him. That was the hardest fight I've ever been in!" You sigh.

"Man, I wonder what Jeanist was thinking choosing him..." Fire Tamer chuckles. "He seems more suited to Endeavor's agency, but I guess he went with his son."

"What do you mean?"

"He's definitely not the usual intern he picks. Typically, he goes for the real polite kids. Good kids, but more of the teachers pet kind. Perfect students, you know? Hell, I'm surprised you didn't go there!"

"Bakugou is a really hard worker, I'm sure he was just impressed by his dedication," you smile.

"I'm not too sure about that... Your friend might have met his match!"

"I wonder if we'll see them during our patrol tomorrow..."

"Normally we take care of seperate parts of the city. We do meet up every now and then to talk business, though, maybe we'll pass through his area if it's quiet. We can smear a little dirt on our clothes to see if he notices." Fire Tamer laughs.

"You two must get along well." You say.

"Yes, I like to bother him, but we've known eachother for years now. You have to get along if you're working in the same city."

"I hope Bakugou is behaving for him..."

"I'm sure he's fine! Here's your floor, kid. Don't forget to set your alarms, or you'll miss breakfast!" Fire Tamer says as the elevator doors open with a ding. "I'll meet you in the cafeteria at five."
