"Are you alright?"
I couldn't believe what he was asking me.
Actually I couldn't believe he had just saved me.
My mouth opened and closed. Unsure if I should answer him or try to defend what I had been doing.
Praying that he didn't know who I was I answered, "I'm fine thank you. I just needed some air and well... you know the rest."
The man nodded his head and put me down on my feet.
"Thank you again excuse me I should be going."
Turning away I began to make my way to where the front gate of the palace was.
"Y/N was it?"
I stopped mid step.
I could hear the crunching of snow as the man approached me from behind.
"I've heard about you from the Tsaritsa. Supposedly you have the ability to wield multiple elements."
Slowly I turned around.
Okay so I was screwed.
I looked around for a backup plan.
I didn't think I'd be able to fight this man, but maybe I could still escape.
"I am interested in seeing those powers of yours. If you'd like to make an attempt I have no issues testing them out."
My heart slammed.
So he knew what I was up too as well.
Damnit...
Sighing I crossed my arms, "I don't think I'd be able to win in a fight against you. So lets spare us both the trouble and me the embarrassment."
Capitano nodded, "I see well then—"
And I took off.
Before he even had the chance to finish his sentence I was already sprinting in the opposite direction.
I hadn't technically lied I wasn't going to fight him I was simply going to make a run for it.
Capitano only sighed at my idea before he made his move.
I looked back behind me to see he had already disappeared.
Not wanting to get caught I let myself blend in with the snow. All he would be able to see was a trail of snow as I disappeared from the palace.
That was my hope anyway.
But as it usually goes things did not seem to work out my way.
Capitano had appeared in front of my path and raising his hand it began to glow with some sort of power.
He moved his hand quickly to grab me but I had already moved out of the way and was headed in a new direction.
The close encounter had my adrenaline pumping.
I ran even faster now. Pushing my legs as hard as they could. If I wanted to escape this man I wasn't going to do it by walking.
My eyes darted around trying my best to find him as I went, but also focusing on my escape.
I saw something flash from the corner of my eye. Blue icicles had come flying out of nowhere.
My eyes widened and I dropped down before they could hit me.
The icicles just skimmed my body. I could feel the cold that radiated off of them. They were freezing.
My heart was really going now.
This felt as if it were some sort of game.
I had a suspicion that he was only trying to see what I'd do.
Pushing myself up off the ground my eyes scanned the castle walls as I looked for a way to get up them.
One of the walls by the back was a little shorter due to the design so as I ran by it I used the wind to carry me upwards. My body was pushed into the air and I grabbed onto the walls ledge once the wind released me.
With a smile on my face I pulled myself upwards.
Though before I went any further I stopped.
Before my very eyes was a black boot.
I looked up even further still holding on the walls edge.
His arms were crossed as he stared down at me.
I gave him a nervous smile.
"Hehe... uh yikes this is awkward."
Capitano sighed again and brought one of his hands down and held it out for me.
Letting out a sigh of my own I grasped his hand and he pulled me onto the top of the wall.
The two of us looked down at the streets below.
"It seems she was right," Capitano commented, "You're not used to those powers are you?"
My stomach sank a little. He was more perspective than I thought.
"No," I replied, "I didn't realize I had them for a long time."
He only hummed in reply and the two of us continued to look down at the city. From the skyline I could see the sun beginning to rise.
"I thought I could at least escape you though."
He chuckled softly.
"It seems today won't be it."
I let out a sigh.
I hadn't even seen the man move??
How in hell did he even get up here before me?
There was no point in thinking about it too much though.
Capitano didn't hold seat one of the Harbingers for no reason.
It seemed I would not be making my escape today.
With that in mind I walked over to the other edge and sat down to watch the sun.
Capitano followed behind me remaining standing as the two of us looked out.
"Do you wish to improve upon those powers of yours?"
I nodded.
There was no other way I was going to survive in this world. I may as well make the most of it while it lasts.
"Then remain here and I will teach you how to become stronger."
