I couldn't move.
The last thing I had suspected was for someone to figure out my origins, especially that quickly.
If Capitano knew the truth then the others must have as well. Which meant hiding it from the beginning had been futile. That must have been why the Tsaritsa decided not to let me go either.
This only made that guilty feeling in my chest intensify.
"You knew?" It was the only thing I could think to say.
Capitano nodded, "You don't need to concern yourself about the others, if thats what you're worried about. Her highness, Pierro, and I are the only ones aware."
I still couldn't believe it.
"What had given it away...?" I asked cautiously.
"The elemental power. The only other people in this land with that were either outlanders or very powerful individuals. Considering that none of us have ever encountered you or heard of you, it only made sense that you were a descender. A new one."
"Wow..." I was in disbelief, "You... no wonder you guys are so powerful. Nothing gets by you."
Capitano let out a light chuckle and I relaxed a bit.
"I'm sorry for lying. I haven't been in this world very long and I had only known bad things about the fatui. I figured if you found out you might kill me or lock me up." I admitted embarrassed.
Capitano did not respond immediately.
When he did he let out a sigh, "I believe I may have mentioned this before... but we are truly not that horrific."
I laughed nervously once more, "Yea I know, but still. Some of your other colleagues have very questionable morals. I didn't want to get caught up in those."
He nodded in understanding.
"So how do you know so much about this world?"
I wasn't sure how to reply to that question. Where I had come from this was nothing but a game, but to them it was all very real.
"Well... this is going to be weird to explain, but to us this world wasn't real. It was fictional something we could explore at our leisure without suffering any real consequences. If we died we came back. If we messed up we tried again. Through that process we learned a lot about your world as well. Unfortunately I'm still missing some pieces of the puzzle so I don't know anything. I know a lot about some of the other harbingers like Dottore and Childe, but people like Pierro and yourself are completely unknown to me."
