I decided to wander around the caves a bit further. There was just so much to explore and I figured sitting in one place while maybe the safer option, wasn't going to get me out of here.

However, after a bit of wandering and searching my energy was beginning to rapidly deplete. I hadn't realized how much strength it had taken me to move around until I finally took a break.

My body slumped back against the ground and the pain from earlier had resurfaced.

As I stared at the rocks I began to feel a little light headed.

Even moving around that much had taken its toll. The pain in my chest was still present and my legs hurt badly.

I needed some time to rest now before attempting to go any further. I had already pushed my body to its limit and didn't want to go too far lest I end up stuck in one place.

My eyes felt a little heavy now too. All of a sudden my body was overcome with an exhaustion. I didn't try to fight it. Rest would be a good thing... at least I hoped it was.

The cave was still mostly silent. The only sound aside from my heavy breathing, was that of water dripping somewhere in the distance.

The sound was soothing. I let my eyes fall shut as I listened carefully to it.

Everything was going to be alright... I'd wake up tomorrow or whenever... and I'd be in much better shape.

Maybe if I was lucky when I woke up Capitano would have already found me.

The thought of waking up to seeing him helped to calm and relax me some more.

Yes... I'm sure it wouldn't take him long.

I inhaled, another sharp pain stinging my body at the motion.

I just needed to sleep this off...

With that thought in mind it didn't take much before I was drifting off to sleep.

The time had come and gone. The next time I woke up I was still in the same silent and empty cave. Capitano was nowhere in sight. The image I had conjured up while falling asleep was nothing but a fantasy. Reality was a rude awakening.

My heart had dropped at the the realization and to make matters worse the fall had injured my ankle. It took longer for me to realize but my ankle was swollen and puffy. Only when I had tried to stand up did I realize the full extent of it. Pain had immediately shot through my body and I dropped to the ground. I could no longer put pressure on it.

After that incident I remained in my spot.

I had fallen asleep a couple more times from that day. Drinking and eating whatever I had left from our expedition. The food was finally gone and the water but a drop left.

The time had felt ever so slow and I could no longer tell what time or day it was. How much time had passed since I had fallen? Was it hours? Or even days?

The darkness of the cave had messed up my senses.

I hadn't felt panicked before but the direness of the situation was becoming more evident as time pressed on.

The exhaustion hadn't disappeared either. My body was hot and tired. I just didn't want to do anything but lay here. Even after all that sleep I still couldn't find the strength to get going. It was as if my energy was being constantly drained.

A soft sigh fell from my lips. The noise echoing throughout the cave.

It only further reminded me how alone I was.

Capitano... where had he gone. Would he even be able to find me down here? Was he even looking?

My heart fell in my chest and I squeezed my eyes shut.

No no... he would. Capitano wasn't the type of man to leave someone like that. Not when he had no idea whether I was alright or not. For all he knew I could be lying dead at the bottom of that pit.

I couldn't help the bitter laugh that left my throat.

Wasn't that an ironic thought.

I was alive, yet my body sure didn't feel the same.

There wouldn't be much time left if something didn't change. Yet at the same time there was nothing I could do. Nothing I felt like doing.

Maybe I just needed a bit more rest...

Maybe sleeping some more would make it better...

Or maybe that was just my body slowly giving up.

The realization had come too late though. Overcome with sleep once more I could feel it taking over.

The water continued to fall from somewhere within the cave.

Drip.

Drop.

Drip..

Drop...

Drip...

Crunch...

At the time my body hadn't registered it, but that last sound had almost sounded like a step.
