We spent more time in the cave than expected. According to him, it had already been a few days. We would have left sooner if not for the injuries I currently had. Capitano was worried me moving around too much might make things worse so instead of immediately returning to the surface he wanted to build up my energy.
Not only that but Capitano had some knowledge in the medical area so after some exploring he was able to find a few herbs to put on my swollen ankles. The paste he made helped get the swelling down a bit and I could now put some more pressure on it.
Even then he was still ensuring I was careful. Capitano did everything for me and I was truly grateful for his help.
"Are you comfy?" He asked in a soft-spoken voice.
I nodded with a smile, wiggling around a bit in his lap and resting my head against his chest. Capitano wrapped his arms around me to pull me in closer.
From the corner of my eye I could see the fire flicker. I tried to avoid using my elemental powers to try and conserve my strength. This just meant I'd have to use other means of getting warm. Not that my cloak was bad... but I definitely enjoyed having the opportunity to snuggle into him. He didn't reject me, rather he seemed content with the current arrangement.
"Tomorrow we will prepare to leave..."
I glanced up at Capitano from my spot.
"You think I'm ready?"
He nodded, "Well that depends on you as well. How is your ankle and ribs?"
I looked down at my ankle and answered, "Its getting better. I can stand on it for longer now. I may not be able to move as quickly as you but I will make it."
"That is not an issue," He responded, "I already planned to help you back. So don't let that bother you."
My heart fluttered in my chest and I nodded my head with a growing smile.
He was such a considerate man.
I had been falling for him for awhile now but this had truly sealed it. There was absolutely no question about it now and with the way he treated me... I could only imagine he felt something similar.
I looked back up at him.
I had never felt the desire to confess my feelings before but this was new. I wanted Capitano to know and I wanted to make sure no other woman got him first.
