The two of us left the cave and headed out to find the fatui agents. Neither of us had spoken much.
To be quite honest I was in my own head space.
The more time I spent around him the more I found myself falling for him. Being in his arms last night didn't help it either.
I couldn't stop thinking about his words from last night either. They seemed almost like a warning but they didn't scare me. Regardless of the demon he was hiding I was stuck here now. I didn't expect the harbingers to not have issues.
I found my heart beating a little quicker as we walked side by side. My hand occasionally brushed against his and I could feel shivers crawl up my spine.
Thankfully the snow wasn't so harsh today either. There was some sun shining and even the sound of birds chirping.
It was a peaceful atmosphere to say the least.
We had been trudging through the snow for a bit before Capitano froze. I stopped along with him looking up in confusion.
Capitano raised a finger to his mask, shushing me.
I shut my mouth and listened closely. I could hear some rustling nearby and I shuffled a little closer to Capitano.
Ice began to form in the palm of my hand and I was at the ready.
The shuffling grew nearer and his hand moved to his side gripping the hilt of his sword.
I spotted where the noise was coming from and my eyes locked onto the spot. After a few more seconds two figures appeared from behind some trees.
Upon seeing us they let out a breath of relief. Capitano let go of his sword and I let the ice dissipate.
"Sir!"
These must have been the agents he was talking about.
Two fatui men came walking straight toward us. Capitano nodded his head in greeting and the two agents bowed quickly in respect before looking over at me.
They seemed slightly confused by my appearance.
"Sir the woma—"
"Lady Y/N," Capitano answered, "Shes one of us. Personally recruited by the Tsaritsa herself."
I felt my face grow warm and I glanced over at Capitano.
The men looked at me shocked before bowing their heads.
"I apologize Lady Y/N," The man who had first spoke continued, "I didn't realize."
"Oh! No no! Its alright you couldn't have known." I said shaking my head.
The men gave me polite smiles before returning their attention to Capitano.
"Shall we go over the information?" One of the agents asked.
Capitano nodded his head.
"Lets sit and go over this."
We looked around before finding some nearby rocks and taking a seat.
I sat on a rock with Capitano while the agents sat across from us.
"Tell me everything from the beginning." Capitano started.
The other agent who hadn't spoken yet nodded his head.
"Yes sir. We spotted some members of the abyss headed down the mountain. They didn't notice us at first so we we're able to follow them for a good while. We heard them discussing things. It seems they had some sort of relic they were delivering personally to the prince."
The prince of the abyss...?
If that was the case this must have been something important, especially if both the Tsaritsa and the abyss prince wanted it.
"Did they discuss the relics nature?" Capitano inquired.
"No, they didn't say much about it. The relic was packaged up so they couldn't look at it either. From what they said though, it was light and small."
Capitano nodded in response.
"I see. How long did it take them to realize they were tailed?" He asked next.
"Not too long unfortunately. They must have picked up on our scent because out of nowhere they turned back quickly. We weren't in sight but they definitely knew we were there."
Capitano let out a sigh, "How did they get away?"
"They split up. Since there was three of them and only two of us we lost them eventually. However, the two we were following eventually met up again. Unfortunately afterwards we lost them due to a bad storm."
Capitano seemed to be thinking a moment before he replied, "Can you take us to the last point?"
The agent nodded, "Yes sir."
"Good," Capitano got up from his spot, "Lets leave now. We don't want to waste any time."
The agents nodded and both got up.
"Yes sir. Please follow us we'll take you to the exact spot."
Capitano looked down at me and held out his hand.
My heart hammered and I looked at his hand and then back at his mask.
Capitano waited patiently and the other two men had looked over as well.
I swallowed grabbing onto Capitano hand as he pulled me up from the rock.
"T-Thank you." My voice came out as a soft stutter
His hand lingered on mine for a second longer before he let go.
The two men looked over at us stunned and I felt my face grow warm. I touched a hand to my cheek and looked away to avoid their gazes.
