--- Rooster's Point of View ---
I sat up setting the axe down next to me and stretched my back a little bit raising my arms above my head, I was fit for sure but chopping wood seemed to work out a whole different kind of muscles and it felt fantastic.
I rolled my shoulders, suddenly I felt like someone was watching me, I pivoted and looked behind me, my eyes scanned the tresses as I was looking for whatever had made me feel like I was being watched.
I saw nothing, with eyes narrowed I grabbed the bag I found in the shed designed for carrying wood and put the wood into it.
When I cleaned off my feet I entered the house, inhaling I smiled to myself, whatever she was cooking was going to be good.
I walked over to the stove and started to try and work out how to make it work, I had a feeling that living in this area was going to be a bit of a challenge.
--- Chase's Point of View ---
I realized that I wanted to learn how to cook more, now that we were living basically as a married couple, I would have to be a bit more domestically inclined.
I looked up as I heard him hit his boots on the mat before coming in, he walked over to the stove, I looked up at him as he worked on getting the wood in the stove.
I focused on the soup and checked on the corn bread that I had put into the oven, the smell was wonderful.
I kept cooking and looked back over my shoulder to see how he was getting on with trying to get the stove loaded and working. I took another deep breath.
I felt like I was being watched, I wondered where that was coming from.
"That smells good." I yelped and jumped a little.
Rooster's arm instantly wrapped around my waist as he pulled my back against his chest and his he placed a protective hand over my baby bump.
"I didn't mean to scare you both."
I smiled to myself, and I found it so easy to just lean back against him and let out a happy sigh.
"I like that sound from you."
"What sound?" I teased leaning forward a little bit and focusing on what I was cooking.
"Happiness."
"Will you set the table...I thought I saw some plates and cutlery; we will have to find some placemats later.
"Sure, we really are kind of bare bones here." He added.
We moved in tandem with one another, he fixed the table and I served up our food, when we sat down he reached out and grabbed my leg from across the table.
"Thank you."
I smiled at him.
"You're welcome." We both started eating.
{7 Hours Later}
I woke up with a start and found that it was hard to catch my breath, I pressed my hand against my chest, feeling my heart pounding painfully, each beat hurt.
I closed my eyes, realizing that I was crying, had I cried in my sleep.
Rooster stirred beside you and after a second he woke up with slight start.
"Baby...hey."
His voice was sleepy as he reached over and turned on the bedside lamp and I turned my face from the intense light and it took a moment for my eyes to adjust.
With a worried look on his face he reached forward and his hands cupped my cheeks leaning forward he kissed my tears away.
"What is it?"
"Sorry...I..."
Understanding came over his expression and he hugged me, laying us down together.
"I miss him to." I snuggled close to him and I closed my eyes, doing my best to calm my breathing, slow my heart and go back to sleep.
