Ellie's POV
It's been several weeks since the painting incident. Wes has spent countless hours over here. He is over here today, working on it. He said he still has another few days left.
"Wesley, you and I need to talk" I say, coming up to him and crossing my arms.
"Uh oh. Why am I in trouble?"
"Did you tell your wife that you couldn't fix her washer because you had to finish this floor?"
Taylor sighs and shakes his head. He didn't know that Megan's washer was broken.
"Uh, Yeah?" Wes says, feeling uncomfortable.
"Why the heck would you do that?"
"Because I want to get this floor done. Your life is completely uprooted right now."
"While I appreciate that and love you for it, please make sure your stuff is taken care of first. The floor will get done when it gets done. Now get your ass out and go help your wife" I say, mock shoving him.
He shakes his head and puts his sander down.
"I'm actually pissed she went to you about it."
"Well, she asked if she could use my washer. She said that you are out of underwear, my friend"
Wes chuckles and looks at the ground. "Ok. I'll go. I'll come back tomorrow" he says, standing up and kissing my cheek.
"Thanks Wes. You don't know how much we appreciate you." I say, kissing his cheek.
"The feeling is mutual, Ellie" he says, kissing me back and leaving quietly.
Luke comes down a few minutes later, grabbing his keys and putting on his shoes.
"Where you going, darling?" I ask, going over to him and fixing the collar on his shirt for him. He never wears jeans and a nice shirt in the summer.
"Trace and I are going to a party that some of our buddies are having at Charlie's house."
I nod. Taylor and I decided that we were just letting them do what they do. They're turning 18 next month. It's hard, though. Is there drinking? Drugs? I don't like it at all.
"Ok, darling. Have fun" I say as I give him a kiss.
He chuckles. "That's it? No third-degree?"
"Nope" I say, smiling at him.
"Sweet" he says as he waves goodbye and leaves quickly.
I have a weird feeling all night. By ten, I'm starting to get nervous.
"Ellie, it's only ten. He's fine" Taylor says from the couch.
"I don't like this, Taylor. He still lives here. I don't like acting like he's an independent adult."
Taylor just shrugs. "And if he would have moved out after graduation?"
"Well he didn't. He still lives under this roof. There should still be rules."
Taylor chuckles. "Eleanor, it's only ten. His curfew wasn't even until 11:30" Taylor says calmly.
"I know, but he went to a party."
Taylor nods. "It's time to let him out of the nest, momma bird"
"Oh shut up. That's crap and you know it" I snap.
Taylor raises his eyebrows, but says nothing.
It's 2 am and he still isn't home. I'm starting to pace.
