Inferno Part 2

Ellie's POV

I'm at work and I'm stretching my legs. It's been an insane day, and I'm needing a break. As I'm walking, I'm hearing whispering. I turn the corner, and I see Dylan and Colton talking.

"Just give it to me" Colton whispers.

"She's going to kill me if she finds out" Dylan hisses.

"Dude, I'll get it back to you this weekend. Please"

Dylan sighs as he hands Colton a wad of cash.

I get up to them and clear my throat. They both look at me in horror. "What's going on, fellas?"

"Not much, Aunt Ellie. He's just helping me out."

"With what?"

They swap a look, and Colton shrugs. "I needed to borrow some money for tonight. I have a date."

"Dylan doesn't have a job. Where did he get the money?"

They swap another look.

"Mason gave me chore money" Dylan says simply.

I look at them both hard for a minute.

"What class are you supposed to be in?"

"Mason's" Dylan says.

"PE" Colton says.

"Let's go, boys" I say darkly. They follow behind me silently.

We go to Mason's room, and he is lecturing. I pop my head in and wait until he sees me.

He does, and comes over to me.

He sees Dylan, and gets annoyed. "Where have you been?" He snaps.

"I'm pretty sure they're both in trouble. Care if I take him with me for the hour?"

"What did he do?"

"Not sure yet."

Mason nods. "He's all yours"

"I'll keep you posted" I say over my shoulder as I motion for the boys to follow me.

We get to PE, and Nick is pelting a kid with a dodge ball and laughing. He sees me, and chucks one at me. I catch it, and chuck it back at him.

He laughs as he comes over. "Wanna play?" He smirks.

"Nope. I will never play another sport with you again, Coach."

"What's up?" He snorts

"I'm keeping Colton for the hour"

He just nods. "Sounds good" he says as he goes back to playing. Is it considered a job if you get to just goof off and play games all day?

We go back to my office and I shut the door.

"Colton Levi, you better not lie to me again" I say sternly.

His shoulders slump and he sits on the cot.

"I owe a couple guys some money"

"For what?" I ask.

He shakes his head. "I snuck out and went to a bar and played poker the other night. I lost a lot. I have to pay them back by today, or they will kill me."

"Who's they?"

"Some regulars at the bar. Scary dudes who will literally kill me."

"How much do you owe?"

"500"

"COLTON!!!!!"

He looks at the ground, upset.
