Inferno Part 2

Ellie's POV

We clean in silence for a while. We're all working on the kitchen first, so it gets done faster. Everyone knows that if you don't have your kitchen unpacked, you can't function. So, we're all working on the kitchen, while Sasha, Emma, and Shay are working on bedrooms and Josie, Izzy, and Savannah are babysitting the toddlers. Dylan and Colton are supposed to be cleaning the living room, but it sounds like they're goofing around.

"Colton Levi, get in here," Lilah says darkly.

Colton comes in the kitchen. "Yeah?"

"I'm hearing an awful lot of laughing, and I'm not seeing much cleaning. The guys will be back any minute, and we need the living room cleaned."

"Then why aren't you guys cleaning it?" He snaps.

"Excuse me?" She asks, crossing her arms.

"This is dumb. Savannah, Dylan, and I were supposed to go to the skatepark."

Lilah shakes her head. "We've had this conversation three times. We told you repeatedly what day we were doing this. The fact that you forgot is not my problem."

"Why do we have to help? There's 500 people in this family."

"Yup. And you're one of them. Get your butt in there and start washing those baseboards, before I call your dad."

"I don't understand why you always say that? Ellie never does."

"Say what?"

"I'm going to call your dad," he says in a mocking tone.

Lilah's eyes narrow. "Get in there and clean, now."

Colton glares at her.

"I've got my paddle right next door if you want it," I say to Lilah with a gentle smile.

She looks at me, and her face is bewildered. She told me before that when Colton was younger, she used to spank him, but once he got older she didn't want to. Even though she and Taylor got spanked, she doesn't think that teenagers should be spanked. She's never stopped Alex, but she chooses not to do it herself.

"Colton, please just stop. We have a ton of work to do, and I'm wasting time. Get in there, right now."

"Mom, come on. It's Saturday morning. I don't want to."

Lilah shakes her head angrily and takes a deep breath. "I have officially lost my patience with you.
Go stand in a corner until dad gets back."

"Are you serious?" He asks darkly.

"Right now," she says, raising her voice.

"If I'm standing in a corner, how will I get your stupid cleaning done?"

"RIGHT NOW!" She yells.

Colton rolls his eyes, but does what she said.

"Teenage hormones are insane," she snaps as she goes back to cleaning the kitchen floor.

"Yes they are," I agree.

About 15 minutes later, the guys come in. They start bringing in the living room furniture. Once Alex and Wes bring in one couch, Alex immediately sees Colton.

"What did he do?" He asks Lilah darkly.

Lilah tells him the story, and Alex rolls his eyes.

"Get over here," he snaps

Colton immediately comes out of the corner and over to Alex.

"You are cleaning while I help unload the truck. Then, I'll stay behind and take my car to Jake's house after."
