" Okay! Okay! Haah... Haah... Just... Stop..."
The last of the Demons we kept alive finally began to speak. Jessie has been working them over for the past 3 hours, finally, the last one broke after Jessie threatened to cut something off of him that was more precious than the arm and legs he's already taken. Some information had come out of the past few victims of Jessie, the biggest being that the Demons would be retreating into the countryside soon. Apparently, the appearance of the Hero Party wasn't something they were equipped to deal with. If you ask me, the group in the forest seemed to be doing just fine, but I digress.
" Where is your camp!?"
/ Thunk! Bang!/
Jessie's metal gauntlet connected to the Demon's jaw and sent it crashing to the ground off of the rock we had him sitting on.
" It's... It's Southwest of here... It's a cave... We're hiding out there."
" Any identifiers?"
" A mark... Outside the cave... It's an X inside of a circle."
" Thank you."
/ SHING!/
With his thanks, Jessie cut the Demon's head off. It wasn't such a bad way to go, the others were all gutted by Jessie quite brutally. Jessie quickly wiped the blood from his blade and placed it back in his sheath before turning to us and beginning to speak.
" You heard him, we need to head southwest now, look for the sign that's how we'll know where to go."
" So, we'll be able to tell everyone where to attack?"
" Hm? Yes, that's the pla-"
" No. We should end this now."
Jessie and Jaime were making clear what it is we were going to do. But Luke refused to simply scout the Demons and head back, he seemed to have his own idea about how to go about this.
" What do you want to do then, Luke?"
" We should attack and defeat them while we have the chance. They're not expecting us, we can end this right here, right now."
" We don't even know how many are in the cave, Luke."
" We have the element of surprise. We did fine on the battlefield, Jessie. The Adventurers couldn't do more than cheer for us when we were fighting. Now we're all together, we can strike hard, take out as many of them as we can then retreat back to report what we've found."
" How do we even know they're still going to be there?
" The fact that they were coming this way means they wanted to see how much time they had to retreat. That means that if these guys don't return in a timely fashion, they're going to just run into the countryside and do what they've been doing to the travelers in the forest to small villages all around the Southern part of the country. It's either that, or we can strike now. There's not much time and I know it's dangerous, but so is just letting them run rough shot. Even if we do retreat. We can at least take some of these Demons out first."
Jessie listened closely to Luke's reasoning. I understand where he's coming from, but the fact of the matter is that it's very risky. Ultimately, it's not up to us at this point. It's up to Jessie and Luke seeing as they have more of the King's trust than we do.
" Fine. But we do this safely, the moment we begin to get overwhelmed in any way, we retreat immediately. Our objective is to cull the enemy as best we can."
Jessie gave into Luke's idea. I could see it coming from a mile away. It looks like the rest of the girls did as well. Laura however, had something to say.
