A thrust from my halberd was blocked... Interesting. I didn't expect this kind of physical strength from an Elf. He used his sword tip to block the tip of my halberd's spike. With one arm as well... I was using only my right arm, but still, it was somewhat impressive. I wonder how he'll do when I use my Enhancement Spells?
" Haaa!"
/ Shing! Thump! Woosh!/
As I was thinking about my next attack, Ruby quickly snuck behind him and attempted to land a sword strike. And with Ruby's attack, he quickly jumped out of the way. This Elf seems to be well-versed in melee combat. Maybe he's even better than that Sword Master I fought not too long ago?
/ Swoosh! Swoosh!/
Flare fired a few fireballs at him while he was in the air and he was able to dodge them as well. I wasn't quite sure what Anna was doing, but I'm sure in time, she'll attack as well. I suppose Ruby and I's job will be to make it so Anna could land the finishing blow. I suppose I should make sure I take up his attention... Though the thought of making another man who's not John pay attention to me... It doesn't sit well with me... Though, making sacrifices in war is how you win them. I suppose this could be mine, even if I didn't like it.
" Hm... Your teamwork isn't bad... But I can't help but notice a certain lack of experience... Is this the first time you've worked in a group? Do ants really not notice that bigger groups only mean that my boot will kill more of them? I wonder if they realize it as my boot touches their heads?"
/ Shing! Clang!/
" Perhaps you should worry more about other things at the moment!?"
" Hm... Red woman, you're a bit too hotheaded, don't you think?"
Again, Ruby attacked the Elf and he was able to block it. It looks like his reflexes are good. Though just because of that, it looks like he feels he's good enough to start mocking us in different ways. Comparing us to insects is quite a leap. Though maybe not so far as I initially thought, Insect Monsters due tend to kill their fair share of Adventurers. Considering what the 4 of us were going to be doing, I suppose he wasn't wrong in the end? The only question will be what Insect's work will his slaying resemble?
/ Clang! Clang! Clang!/
" Ah, anger... What point is there in feeling that here and now, little bug?"
" You sure talk a lot for a dead man!"
" Well, I suppose it's because I'm bored. My body doesn't feel much activity like this, I figure some mental activity would be better... Alas, I suppose I'm fighting the wrong species for that as well?"
/ Thoop! Thoop! Shing! Slash!/
Just as he was speaking, Flare launched another 2 fireballs at him, this time the Elf cut them with his sword in one strike. Ruby, not one to miss an opening considering he had to turn away from her to do it, quickly went to cut his head off. Unfortunately, the Elf disappeared and all that was left was the wind that she cut through. With one look of the battlefield it was easy to see what happened... And also what to do next.
/ Rumble! Crack! Pop! Pop! Pop!/
" AH!"
/ Rumble! Crack! Woosh!/
It looks like my little surprise worked. The way the Elf had dodged the attack was that he used Earth Magic to create a hole to fall into, once I saw this, I quickly used Spear Spikes inside the hole that he dug out. He quickly jumped out of the hole and looked quite angry about it. What a shame, I hoped that my spell had turned him into a pincushion. Unfortunately, he seemed to have jumped out of the hole and survived just in time.
