Chapter 440. Sparring With A Prince 2

" I wasn't even using my full strength! I demand a rematch!"

" Neither was I? Did you miss the part where we aren't allowed to use magic?"

Prince Adam continued to press the issue of wanting a rematch like I didn't hear him the first time. He lost so I could understand being angry about it, but why the hell would I need to rematch him just because he's upset he lost? He looks older than me so he really shouldn't be acting like this in front of me, his junior... Also, this is the first time I've met him, is it normal for him to act like this in front of a stranger? I looked over at King Alan and he was laughing for some reason, and Queen Aria was right there with him... Maybe this is normal? Queen Andrea on the other hand looks irritated by the whole thing. Prince Adam was looking at me with the same look he's had since he got up after my slash hit him, he was angry and I saw what looked like a hint of embarrassment in his eyes. But to be honest, besides having a good amount of strength, he's not particularly that skilled. It made me wonder why he's so persistent about this whole thing. I mean, that parry should've told him that I can handle countering him... Especially now that I have the Parry Skill, which if I had to guess was either a Passive Skill that made it easier to parry oncoming attacks or was an Active Skill that was like Shield Bash, as in I'd need to pick and choose when to use it... I wonder which would be better?

" Hey! Don't look away from me! Fight me again! This time I'm not going to hold back!"

The Prince interrupted my thoughts. His excuse of not using his full strength is starting to get on my nerves, I wonder if he would even survive an Angel's Spear from me? Regardless, I don't think he'd be able to do much, he's still nursing his shoulder that I hit with my sword.

" How were you even holding back exactly, Prince Adam? If you can't tell me that, it just sounds like you're a sore loser."

" If worse comes to worst, you could always find out, John..."

Angela's voice, filled with an annoyed tone filled my head. It's nice to know that I have her support if anything else but seriously trying to kill an allied Prince would be a bad idea as a Noble of Diablos.

" Thanks for the okay, but I think I'll save that for another time."

I thanked Angela quickly before returning to the Prince who seemed excited at my words for some reason.

/ Clap! Clap!/

" See! Now I'll be fighting seriously!"

The Prince threw off his shows to show his feet. They looked like what I'd imagine a werewolf's feet to look like, covered in fur along with sharp claws instead of normal Human-like toenails.

" So, because you have claws instead of regular nails in your shoes, that's what's held you back, Prince Adam?"

" No, you idiot! I couldn't move as fast with those stuffy shoes on! I can go even faster now! You won't even be able to see my moves when I'm like this!"

" Sounds like a lie... Why would removing perfectly fine shoes make you faster?"

" No, he's not lying, Matthew."

King Alan seemed to step in to answer for his son. Maybe I'm being a bit too hard on him, it's just that I'm personally finding Prince Adam to be a bit annoying... Maybe it's due to what Aqua said? Either way, King Alan was apparently about to correct me. I looked at him and waited to hear his explanation.

" Adam's Job is called Beast Solider. As the name might imply, it's a Job that has qualities of both Beasts and People, one of the things about it though is as you can see with Adam's feet. Having his feet stuffed into shoes decreases his speed as one wrong move and he might step on his sharp claw and pierce his own skin. So, when he's out of his shoes, he's a lot faster since he doesn't need to worry about it. Also, he's just faster in general with just his feet on the ground. Will you give the sparring match a 2nd round? Think of it as a favor for me."
